“Great venue for European influenced Alpine experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013 via mobile

My colleague and I ate in the bar/pub area right in front of the roaring fire. We both had the duo of lamb with merguez style sausage, Puy lentils and sauce. We shared a strudel which was only average to my taste but thats just a personal opinion.
Service was great - attentive without being intrusive.
At $100 per person it was too pricey but I enjoyed it and the waiter was top drawer.

“Expensive meal and mediocre food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

We had dinner in the Goldener Hirsch during the Christmas holidays. One of our party ordered steak, to be prepared medium. It was served well done and was not very tasty. We have to take some of the blame in that nothing was said to the waitress and therefor we did not give the restaurant the opportunity to correct the mistake. The trout was okay, not great. Nothing about the meal was a standout. I suggest the restaurant invest in a new expresso machine because the expresso was also not very good.
The atmosphere is very inviting, but the food is very mediocre and over priced.

“Christmas Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

The food especially the fondu for appetizers and again at desert were fun for the entire group. The gourmet preparation and the presentation was exceptional not to forget the professional service provided by the staff.

“A mid-mountain fine dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The food at GH is well prepared and very good. Service is exceptional. Special attention is given to presentation at dinner. Large plates are used and always contained features to enhance the color and presentation.

Prices are high, but that's expected given the location. We ate dinner several times during our week-long stay and had both meat and fish. Both were excellent.

We ate breakfast every day because it was included with our room. It likewise was good, but the portion sizes were very large. It's an Austrian/European style inn, so the decor and food orientation are consistent with that style which may not be to everyone's taste. We passed on some of the breakfast specialties, but they were always willing to make omelettes or eggs prepared in the customary ways.
