“Another Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

We just returned from another great stay at The Chateaux in Deer Valley. From the check in with Alex to the warm greeting from the Guest Services Manager Jacqui Livingston I have to say every staff person I came in contact greeted us with a smile and a greeting. We found our accommodations to be in excellent condition. I thought the guest amenities in the units were quite good. I used the exercise room each day and found the equipment to be in very good condition. I was a bit surprised that they didn't have flat screen TV's in the exercise room with direct audio feed to each piece of equipment but that wasn't a big deal. We have stayed at The Chateaux several times and would certainly recommend it to anyone considering a stay in Deer Valley.

If your idea of a hotel should capture the feeling of an aging, under-funded apartment complex, this is the place for you. As you enter the property through the dirty, dimly-lit, sour-smelling parking garage, the hope that things can only get better gradually fades. This place gets pretty good reviews, but after staying here, I am absolutely convinced that at least some of the positive reviews are coming from the owners of the individual units.

We arrived in August with our four children for one last summer fling. We intended to stay seven nights but checked out after two. This place gave us the creeps. Getting our bags from the dank, underground parking garage involved two separate elevators and walking through areas that should only be seen by the janitor, who, by the way, probably hasn't dropped by for a while. This place is in serious need of an overhaul, and I would guess it has hit some serious financial problems. The few staff that were there were friendly but not very polished, and the room was cozy and cute, but VERY overpriced (I cannot stress that enough) and did not feel at all like a four-star property. The room felt dark, some items were in need of repair, and we all felt trapped and surrounded by musty, meandering, banged-up hallways. We could either sit in the room or go swim in the very tiny, 4-foot-deep swimming pool. It felt very cheap and not at all resort-like. My wife and I both felt a serious case of buyer’s remorse, as did other people we talked to that were staying there. We all breathed a sigh of relief as we drove out of the parking garage, bound for a better place.

Every detail was great. We were treated very well and offered all kinds of amenities. Thanks so much to everyone there, especially Jacqi! We had a great brunch at the sister hotel near by and a complementary ride door to door. We walked around the area and enjoyed the spectacular views all around.

From the first phone call to book a room for our anniversary to our departure, the staff was friendly and efficient. In these days of no good customer service, they were a refreshing breath of fresh air. When we arrived, we were given a wonderful suite with a wall of windows with a beautiful view of the mountains. The fireplaces in the living room and in the bedroom added to the warm atmosphere. The property is immaculate and well maintained. We ate in the restaurant on site and it was delicious. I cannot say enough good about the staff. The went out of their way to help our anniversary be the very best.

The Chateaux is an attractive property with tasteful public rooms and good meeting facilities. The room was pleasant but had a very imprecise thermostat (the room could be too hot or too cold). The hotel is good meeting location. That said, in the summer off-season, the Spa is closed and the restaurant and bar have limited hours. One bartender rather grudgingly agreed to stay a few minutes late when our party returned from a banquet. There are more options at the resort’s sister property (the Stein-Eriksen) and is probably a better choice for a vacation traveler.

Room Tip: Try to stay in the main building. One wing requires going outside (or trudging through the garage) t...

My wife and I stayed here for a quick one-night getaway. I had a friend in town but could not get the same hotel he did and I am grateful I couldn't. He was staying at Westgate, which is nice...just not Chateaux nice. :-) Plus, the Chateaux is in Deer Valley and Westgate is at the Canyons, which is not too close to the Park City / Deer Valley area. If you are from out of town you might want to get a car if you are at the Chateaux since it's a mile or two down the mountain to Park City main street where there are tons of wonderful restaurants. I believe the chateaux does offer shuttles to downtown every hour or something like that, so it wouldn't be completely necessary to get a car. And there are taxis in Park City so you could go that route as well.

Back to review. We didn't take advantage of the restaurant or pool, which was outside our window, but the king room was very nice. Fireplace, very comfortable bed, mini fridge with large ice maker, safe, Starbucks coffee, free wi-fi (didn't use), small flat screen with cable and HBO (probably 42" but not sure), and probably other things I'm forgetting. The pool was small but never too busy.

Also we received a voucher good for our next visit to get a free night. We definitely plan to use it! The rate was not bad during the summer but my guess is the rate is much higher in the winter during ski season. It is within walking distance of Deer Valley lifts...and I don't like to walk. :-) I highly recommend the Chateaux!

My husband and I recently stayed at The Chateaux Deer Valley for our anniversary. Sister property to the magnificent Stein Eriksen Lodge just down the street, The Chateaux is considerably less expensive but still luxurious. Our room was very spacious with a full wall of windows complete with upholstered window seating, built-in bookcases, wood beamed ceiling, a gas fireplace, and a king sized bed. Furnishings were very high quality and bed linens wonderfully soft and comfortable. The pillow top bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The bath was roomy and featured a jetted tub, fluffy oversized towels, lighted magnifying makeup mirror, and imported toiletries. There was even a towel warmer. There was also a small refrigerator (stocked with ice cubes), a microwave and coffee maker. A large flat screen TV could be rotated if you wanted to watch in bed, and included a BluRay player as well as Netflix and standard cable channels and a built-in desk. There is complimentary WiFi.

The hotel features a full service, excellent restaurant, but be aware - it is only open after 3:00 and breakfast is not available at the hotel. The staff, however, is happy to recommend nearby restaurants both at Stein Eriksen and in nearby Park City. (See my review of The Eating Establishment.)

I highly recommend The Chateaux at Deer Valley for a romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Room 328 is located down a short hallway away from the main hall and is very quiet.
