“Worst Experience Ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

I've given myself a few weeks to calm down since my terrible experience up at the Westgate Park City Resort and Spa. I'm not going to sugarcoat anything here - bad or good. We had a 4pm check in. We reserved our unit a YEAR in advance through family that are "owners". We were told our "room wasn't ready yet". About 45 minutes later we were given a set of keys and when we went to go try them, we WALKED IN on a family who had just moved in about 20 minutes before us. They were embarrassed, we were embarrassed. We went back to the front desk and about another 45 minutes later were given a second pair of key cards. I kid you not, we went to 'our' room, only to find someone else sleeping in the bed. I was furious. My wife was furious. Twice they had given us active keys to someone else's room. We finally got checked in to a room that was sub-standard and below what we had originally scheduled - around 9pm! I will admit, management did everything they good to fix things after that. Free spa treatments, meals on the house, and Yes - they did give us the room complimentary for the weekend. However, my weekend was anything but relaxing. I'm leaving out a lot of details here but in short. Never again.

Room Tip: This place is humongous. They have high quality rooms and low quality rooms. Be sure you know what...

This resort is well positioned in the heart of the Canyons area at the edge of Park City, UT. It is an area more known for ski vacations as the resorts tend to be oriented to that clientele. However it is not bad for a summer trip. The Canyons area is still being developed and does not have the business amenities like clubs, shopping and attractions that can be found in the Old Town area. Therefore it is imperative to have a car so that you can get around to the surrounding areas -- unless you are willing to be restricted to more expensive resort based offerings. The nearby (2 miles) Tanger Outlet stores, movie theaters, Walmart and several good grocery stores can be reached by auto. Salt Lake City is only about 30-40 minutes away. You can easily walk to a small village business district and the ski lifts which are fun. Old Town can be reached using the resort's free shuttle. The condo we had was compact but clean and well equipped. There is limited kitchen storage some of which is high up.. Beds and other furnishings were comfortable. The 'steam' shower was an unusual additional luxury. AC worked well. The only minor issue was that the garbage bags were easy to rip - seems like the resort could spring for more robust bags. The exercise room had lots of equipment and was kept cool which is a good thing, but the resort did not provide TV to the machines that were obviously set up for that. Instead there was a weird internet set up that was a pain to operate and you could not get TV even though the on screen menus led you to believe that you could watch. The coax connections on the wall were empty so we suspect this feature was a fatality of a cost cutting initiative which seems chintzy for a high end resort. Parking was free for self parking and complimentary valet parking was available. Self parking is only allowed in one garage which may or may not be in your building. The facilities are sprawling so expect that there may be a walk to your room. The several 'lodges" or buildings are only interconnected via the 4th floor, and, then sometimes on other floors for some lodges, so navigation can be a challenge until you get your bearings. Keep the map they give you at check-in. There are multiple pools including an adults only, indoor facility with a large hot tub, steam room and sauna on the 4th floor near the exercise rooms and yoga area. The outdoor pools are at each end of the lodges so there may be one close to you. The biggest pool is indoor - outdoor. The onsite restaurants are decent. The resort spa is famous and has a comprehensive menu of services.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near where you want to be. It might be worth getting a map of the resort before you...

I recently spent 4 days at this resort for a fantastic wedding weekend. I had such a good time. The outstanding part of this hotel is the custmer servie I experienced. The staff at this resort is so helpful and friendly. Everyone went out of their way for me. There were a few times i was lost finding my way and everyone from maintenance to housekeeping personally showed me how to go. The facilities are beautiful and clean and you cannot beat the location for a range of activities. I personally ate every available meal at Drafts restaurant where the food is delicious and the service excellent. I had a wonderful time and I look forward to going back.

We spent two nights at the Westgate in August 2013. The suite was gorgeous, the staff was so friendly! Blown away by cleaning employee Met (from Thailand, I believe) who saw our little family of four wandering around lost with our suitcases, and set aside his vacuum to give us 10 minutes of his time showing us how to find our room and a better place to park. He made our day on arrival August 7th. The Westgate is in a great location, too, near shopping, the Olympic Park, and the Alpine Slides. Would definitely recommend it to anyone!

This is the place to stay, relax, enjoy the amenities, golf, etc. Management goes all out
to see that you are pampered and that all right. 100% . Both restaurants Edge & Drafts
are outstanding eateries. The best steak in the world was served at the Edge. Everyone
there was fine tuned. The relaxation pool area affording hot tub, sauna, and etc. was
great after a days golf. Looking forward in spending another 7 weeks as this year to
the completion of the new Canyons golf course.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side. Less noise.

We just can't say enough about Westgate! We stayed with another family of 4 and, with 8 of us in a 4 room suite, we had more than enough space. There is so much to do there that my friend said it best- "It's like a cruise ship on land." The bar is great, the prime steakhouse fantastic, the pool (with a DJ on Saturday afternoons) awesome, the beds super comfortable. We can't wait to go back and will definitely be staying longer!

We have stayed many times, but never in the winter. We really enjoy hiking the many trails above the resort to the Red Pine Lodge and the trails above the lodge. We are just beginning to explore other trails closer to Park City. The relaxation pool, hot tub and sauna are always nice after a long hike. We have also biked over to Park City, which is such a charming little town with some excellent restaurants.
