Great decor, good service. Appetizers werent great, desserts were poor. My wife and friend werent overly impressed with their meals. We had the venison ribs and goat cheese flan to start, ribs were very over spiced, flavor was all smoked chilli, dissapointing. Goat cheese flan was incredibly bland. I had the duck breast entree and subbed out the mustard greens for brussel sprouts, it was fantastic. My wife had the parpadelle, wasnt fantastic, fairly bland. My friend had the morrocon chicken, it was souvved then sauted (skin) but we thought it tasted rubbery. Chicken had little to no flavor if not eaten with a piece of skin. By far the duck was the big winner.
For desserts we ordered 3, the crepe Suzette, apple pie and black walnut creme brulee. The crepe suzette was OK, not fantastic. The apple pie was terrible, tiny cubes of apple and crust on a plate (way too fancy, chef trying to hard to reinvent something that is a classic already) and tasted burned (we sent back and were not charged). The creme brulee was good once you got rid of the three hockey pucks of cookies on top of the thing. The cookies were dry and took away from the standard creme brulle crust by being in its place. We explained that the chef needed to stop trying so hard, they thanked us for the feedback.
We like Silver and will be back for more as I believe they will adjust to the feedback and get back to their usual high standards.
