“Terrace dining at the St Regis for lunch”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

Six of us had lunch on the terrace. The kitchen/ menu is overseen by the chef Jean George Vongerichten,so our expectations were high. The ambience was wonderful and the service was great and very friendly staff but the food was very disappointing. One ordered a pizza which was okay-not the best. The Caesar salad with chicken was very disappointing. A little bit of lettuce with 3 small strips of chicken plopped on top. No anchovies, croutons or anything - I have had better at a local diner. Vongerichten could certainly make it better.
The Caesar salads with shrimp included 3 small shrimp,no anchovies,croutons- not great lettuce. The Tuna burger was okay but I think the tuna had freezer burn- tasteless.

“Excellent food, stuffy service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

We had the tasting menu, and the food was outstanding. The service, however, was stuffy, slow, drinks did not come as ordered and took forever. Our sommelier was lovely, but the overall experience felt stuffy, overly formal, and overpriced.

“Pricey, but worth it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012 via mobile

Tried the tasting menu and loved every morsel. The Hawaiian Butterfish was the best of the trio sampled. The shrimp salad is also a must. The room was beautiful and the service delightful. Top it off with a salted caramel sundae and a feeling of bliss swept through my midsection as my family made it's way down the funicular. Again, very pricey but when on vacation, a little indulgence isn't the worst thing right?

The cucumber martinis are fresh and fabulous. You must try. The appetizers are all good in the bar and in the grill, try the burgers and fries

“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

Taking the funicular up the mountain to the hotel was a real blast and once there, the food and service was first rate. Lots of variety in the menu and our choices were really terrific. I would go here again and highly recommend it.
