“Ups and Downs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

We've stayed in Park City several times and there are some ups and downs to the Sundial. First, the ups: staff upgraded us to a 1 bedroom which was great. We had a balcony, laundry, full kitchen and a separate cozy bedroom. The bathroom was enormous! Cons: the facilities are basically non-existent, there is nowhere to grab a bagel onsite (it's a short walk to the small market down the street but it was raining so we would have liked something other than vending machines!) and the pool is pretty bad. Small and crowded. However, the price was right at $120. Had we known that there was a full kitchen we probably would have stopped at the store and brought snacks/breakfast with us for the following day. If you're looking for a budget stay, this is a good choice. If you can afford a little extra, I would stay at the Waldorf.

Room Tip: Splurge for the 1 bedroom it's worth it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review with your fellow travelers. I am so glad to hear you enjoyed the amenities of your room. The suites with the kitchens are, indeed, quite lovely and spacious. As we are now part of the Vail Resorts properties you can expect to see development of more on-property amenities (such as that much-needed bagel!) coming in the near future. All of your feedback is most useful to us. I would encourage you to come back again!

warmly,
Kristin

I have never stayed at a resort lodge before, but the hubby and I decided to splurge and stay here while we were in town for the Spartan Beast. We stayed in a two bedroom with loft, and wow, it was awesome! Since only standard rooms were available, I was a bit leery about the state of the accommodations and furnishings, but everything was new and spectacular. And it was CLEAN!

The two bedrooms were roomy and the beds were, in my opinion, very comfy. Pillows too (and there were LOTS of them). My two little hellions slept on the sofa bed, although we did let my older one (he's 4) upstairs to watch a movie in his "clubhouse" loft. He loved it! Had his own little bathroom up there and everything, which was nice as I didn't want them playing on the stairs...much.

The master bath had a jetted tub, which was nice even though it seemed to be maybe a little older than the rest of the appliances and whatnot. It worked perfectly and my tall and beefy husband was able to soak after his race. The other (downstairs) bathroom was also very nice and had a deep tub, which my kids enjoyed immensely.

The kitchen had nice, newer appliances and was stocked with most of the basic cooking things you would need. However, if you plan on cooking, DON'T FORGET YOUR SEASONINGS! Yes, I was able to make bison tortellini, but it was the blandest version ever. Oops.

If you don't intend to cook, no worries! There is a delicious and somewhat affordable bar/restaurant right downstairs and across the open courtyard (Draft's, which I will be reviewing right after this). It's a little loud inside but during the day (lunch/early dinner) is totally fine for kids...it was actually nice not having to shush them every five seconds because hey, no one could hear them over the din of TVs and customers. Food was pretty good, and they serve bison burgers! Woo! They also had veggie and healthier options to go along with the deliciously greasy totchos and bacon cheeseburgers. We went twice during our weekend and both times were very satisfied. But I digress....

The lodge staff were friendly and attentive. No problems there. There is parking in the garage, which is only accessible by keycard (great for security, bad for people with short arms). In the winter, I'm sure this is wonderful, but I would've preferred a parking lot that was a little closer instead of making a 20-pt turn with a truck. Minor annoyance though, and wouldn't affect everyone.

I've written a short novella here, so let me just say that the bottom line on this place, from my experience, is that it rocks. Would definitely stay here again if we ever are up that way and it's summer and we have magical extra money to blow. Great place.

Thank you so much for your positive and extensive review. The detail is appreciated as there are several room types here at Sundial Lodge and so many restaurants and activities in the area. We are working on solutions for your underground parking recommendations. The positive is that the parking is secure and enclosed but it can be a tight fit for lager vehicles. We appreciate all your feedback and we would love to have you stay with us again!

We had a 1 bedroom suite and were very happy with this accomodation. The room was fully furnished with a fully equipped kitchen and a laundry machine. the children also enjoyed playing in the pool. This resort is well located, close to many attractions, also during summer.

This place was very nice. The staff actually upgraded us to a one bedroom and it was very much appreciated. The room had a great full kitchen and pullout bed. The master bedroom was nice and very comfortable. Definitely recommended!

Family enjoyed holiday vacation and gathering. We chose to cook and eat together in the large suite so everyone could be comfortable and children had room to eat and play. The weekend was a favorite activity for family members in a beautiful location, comfortable kitchen and living room area, space for kids and adults and excellent services at our request. We have enjoyed the location for other family gatherings at different seasons of the year and each has been enjoyable and well worth the trip. Staff is very helpful and accomodating. Family members from out of state were amazed at the beauty of the location and facilities of the property.

Room Tip: Corner rooms were spacious; loft was excellent for kids. Requested extra bedding for pull outs and r...

This is my second time to the Sundial and the experience has been great. They value is excellent considering lift tickets, breakfast, and parking were included in the price of the room package. In addition this is a ski in/out location. Overall no complaints and would book again for sure.

I booked this condohotel using a discounted app on my phone. I accidentally booked one night when I intended to book two nights. After booking, I visited the front desk and told them of my dilemma. Brian from the front desk was amazingly helpful and booked me a second night and honored the same discounted rate. When checking in, Suzie actually upgraded me from a studio to a one-bedroom suite. She and Brian were so helpful in making our stay comfortable and convenient - these two employees should definitely get a helpfulness award!

In terms of location, while it is very close to the Red Pine Gondola, this condo is technically not a ski-in ski-out. Because of the layout and geography of the property, you cannot ski from the slopes to the hotel because of a ridge that separates the runs from the hotel. This was a bummer for me, but again, the gondola is steps from the hotel.

The condo itself was satisfactory. Nothing special, and the appliances could have used an upgrade. If I had paid full price for this one bedroom suite ($899+), I would have been very disappointed. For the price I paid, it was an amazing value.
