“Pricey for what you get”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

I've stayed at many ski resort hotels and this hotel provided very good accommodations, but at a very high price.

It has a great location if you only plan to ski the Canyons, but if you want to get to Park City or Deer Valley, good luck. The hotel does not provide a shuttle during the day, so getting to the other resorts involves a ride on 2 buses, or a ride on a gondola and then a bus.

The outdoor heated pool and three hot tubs were very nice.

They provide an excellent breakfast buffet for $23.

My room was well appointed overall and everything was functional. It did not have room darkening shades (this is a deal breaker for me). It had slat blinds, which could not be raised, so they obstructed the view out my window.

The other thing is I like drawers to store my stuff as I do not travel light, and this room only had one TV cabinet with tiny little drawers... not very practical.

“Best Place to stay at Canyons”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Can't beat the loaction if staying at Canyons Resort. Just walk out the door and your on the heated Orange Bubble lift or walk a couple of hundred yards and your in the Resort Village or on the main gondola up the mountain.
The rooms are spacious and the hotel offers all the amenities of a major hotel- restaurants, room service a ski check just steps away from the exit to ski from. At the end of the day just ski up to the hotel, walk in the door and check your skis. Then relax in the heated pool or hot tubs, enjoy the spa and exercise facility. Take a free shuttle into town.
Wow! All that you'd want in a ski vacation.

“Housekeeping nightmare-ineffective manager”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

We should have heeded the "not up to snuff" review of February 2013. We,too, are here for a medical conference. Booked a one bedroom suite. Room is fine. Upon booking and confirming reservation, we were told the day bed in the window would be made up for one of our kids.
We arrived @3 and the bed was not made and there were no linens for us to make it. The bell boy said he would have housekeeping take care of it.

We went outside to secure skis for the next day. We came back to discover housekeeping hadn't been there. Called @ 5 to request the linens. Kristin assured me she would take care of it. Told her will be back @7. We came back at 7 and housekeeping hadn't been there. Called Kristin again. She seemed quite confused and said she will take care of it. That was a lie.

Eventually spoke to a manager,Jeff, who said he would personally bring the linens. That was a lie too. Apparently the head of housekeeping,Will, does not heed the manager.
We had been traveling all day and it was hours past the kids bedtime and there were no linens for the second bed.

After going ballistic on manager and housekeeping, finally received 2 sheets and a pillow 5 hours after the initial request. Had to put kid to sleep on old dirty day bed.

I did tell Jeff I would share this experience on Tripadvisor. He concurred with this negative experience and I am confident he could care less.

Next year it's back to vail!

Room Tip: Bring your own linens.

“Great location, good rooms; Canyons growing but still quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

I had a nice 2-night stay at the Grand Summit. The location is fantastic at the base of the main lifts and our room was nice - not wow factor but good. The Canyons area is still growing and has a nice homey feel to it but the overall area is still pretty quiet with not many apres ski or dining options. The resort does have a free hourly shuttle to Park City which was nice. Staff in the hotel were all wonderful as was the waitstaff at the Farm. The folks at Red Tail were not as friendly or accommodating so we stopped trying to go there. If you want to ski the Canyons and have a nice place right by the lifts the then Grand Summit is a good option.

“Reservation Nightmare”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

The Cayons Grand Summit offers geat admenities, location, and skiing. Ski terrain is perfect for families with moderate ski skills ... plenty of blue/green runs.

Reservation Dept is the worst I have ever dealt with! If you stay at this facility DO NOT make any modifications to your reservations : room, ski school, or other. We had changes prior to arrival to the lenght of our stay as well as modifications to ski school registration. Both were mishandled and resuted in overbilling of the room, and lost ski time due to child care/placement in confirmed ski school. To make matters worst, the staff clearly acknowledged that the mistakes were thier's based on notes on our file. No compensation for lost ski time was offered, and we are still having to call THEM to get overbilling handled.

Overall the facility is really nice... I would not recommend to a friend, but it he wanted to go I would say get your scheduled worked out prior to every calling them to book .. and once your booked DON"T CHANGE A THING ..

I think Jerry Sienfield said it best .. " They know how to take the reservation .. they just don't now how to KEEP th servation"
