“Nice place and centrally located between many ski resorts-would stay again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2009

I read some reviews that said less than complementary things about this resort. I was a little nervous about what we'd find upon arrival. A pleasant surprise!!! The rooms were very clean, and very well-appointed. Every contact we had with staff was great - they were nice and helpful. We had a car and wanted to drive to multiple ski resorts, so we did not use any shuttle service, so we can't comment on whether it was good or bad. We travel quite a bit and have stayed in many premier properties, so I don't think that we have low expectations. I would DEFINITELY recommend this property and I would DEFINITELY stay there again! FYI - Check out the nearby restaurant - The Blind Dog - it's a a FABULOUS place with great food & drink. Don't be put off by the name - it is a first-class restaurant.

Based on the pictures I must say we were a bit nervous about this resort. I say this first because you too may have the same hesitancy. But pay those pictures no never mind… this resort is worth a stay. The basics for those not wanting to read a lengthy review:
* They have an enclosed, underground garage – ideal in the -10 degree weather we encountered!
* They are in a great location – central to all three resorts (Canyons, Deer Valley, and Park City), restaurants, grocery stores, shopping and only a 30 minute drive to Salt Lake City.
* They are clean.
* They have an indoor pool and hot tub (you may have to get the kids out – they have a sign posted that no kids under 12 are allowed but kids still get in). Seeing as how the pool and hot tub are in the center of the resort and rooms there is no room for heavy petting anyway.
* They have a game room, daily activities (Monday breakfast, Sunday night movie), and a ping pong table (which they do not allow people to play on after 9:30p.m. so as not to disturb guests). They also have a small gym with 2 treadmills, an elliptical and rowing machine, two bikes, and some weights).
* THEY HAVE FREE WIFI!!!!
* Rooms are spacious enough so as not to feel cramped (I stayed in a one bedroom – bed in the same room as kitchen, separate bath… there are smaller units where the bed comes out of the wall… those are small).
* They have complimentary shuttle service to ski resorts and local sites.

Seriously, this resort is really worth the stay. We encountered little problems during the week but they were very hospitable which makes it better. I don’t think any traveler expects perfection but we do expect to be treated a little better than if we were staying at home! The staff did little things that made you say, “Ahh!” While getting the luggage rack in the garage, there was a staff person cleaning the elevator area. It’s a short distance to the luggage rack but not short enough for him to hold the elevator for me so that it was ready when I returned. When my husband and I returned he was in the area and helped my husband with the luggage…just because. It wasn’t his job or something he did for a tip; he was just thoughtful enough to help. Again, little things that make you say, “Ahhh, how kind!”

Some places to eat while in Park City:
* Chimayo – southwestern but pricey. The special margarita was $17
* Davanza’s – great pizza, pretty good hot wings, small space so seating can be difficult
* Squatters – awesome veggie burger, turkey burger, and sweet potato fries, also known for their beer
* The Eating Establishment…………………..don’t do it! We didn’t like it at all… very average and pricey. Plain waffles, plain as in plain ingredients…taste like a box mix and nothing more!
* The Old Pancake House (in Salt Lake City). Great breakfast and reasonably priced.

You can get free lift tickets by registering with the Chamber of Commerce. I heard about this when checking out so I don’t know all the details. But if you don’t do that, be sure to get your lift tickets in Salt Lake City at the Ski -n- See store. You can’t get discount (lift tickets) rentals in Park City. Ski -n- See also has rentals discounted 20% for 2 days and 25% for 3 days if you get them in Salt Lake… otherwise it’s discounted 15% and 20% in Park City.

  • Liked — Great location an amenities for the price! And the free WiFi!!!!!!!!!
  • Disliked — Pictures on web give it a bad rep... Update pics!!!

My husband and I are from Utah and wanted to have a little weekend getaway so we headed for Park City! I loved staying at the Park Plaza Resort because it has a great location, it was clean, the staff was kind and generous, and also it had many of the amenities we were looking for.
We brought along our son and also my husbands little brother and his friend and they had a great time! The all thought the swimming pool was a lot of fun, as well as the game room!
I would recommend this as a place to stay for anyone!

We stayed at the resort for a full week to ski at Park City and surrounding areas. Our stay was excellent. We had two condos and each was fully stocked, roomy and in great condition. Our children loved the pool in addition to the ping pong table and pool table. The service was excellent and we would definitely stay there again.

Our experience was hit and miss. On the positive side, the hotel was conveniently located in Park City and there was abundant parking. However, over Easter weekend the concierge was missing and when we asked the front desk the response we received was "I don't know." There seemed to be a lot of new and junior staff. Their shuttle schedule is not accurate and at times we had to wait up to 45 minutes after calling several times for a ride back to the hotel. Additionally, the in-door hot tub was closed one day. This hotel is ok if you are looking for a no frills stay and nothing more.

This is the worst run hotel I have ever stayed at. We booked a 1 Bedroom through Park City Mountain Resort given the high reviews from this website. It was the worst mistake of our trip. We arrived late on a Friday night from NYC about 1am local time. When we went to check in, we told the woman at the front desk who we were and she looked in the computer for about 5 minutes without speaking to us. She walked away for another 5 minutes and then came back, typed away on the computer again. After about 20 mins of literally no dialogue I asked what the problem was. She ruffled through some papers, checked her computer again and finally said we don't have a room for you. We were livid. It was now about 1:30am and we had no place to stay. We even called earlier that day to confirm check in. Then another worker came over to check things out, looked into a few rooms and came back saying we have no clean rooms. I went nuts, $300 a night and the idiots don't have any clean rooms. We called a few local hotels, all booked. So by 2am we were out of options. We took some clean sheets and towels and slept in the dirty room. $300 a night. Are you fing kidding me.

The next day we spoke to managers, front desk staff and all had no clue how that happened, blah blah. Sweet.

The rooms were not bad, spacious, nice kitchen etc. but the bathrooms were a bit old, kind of moldy.

and don't get fooled by the shuttle service. They say the shuttle runs every 30 mins to Park City then to Deer Valley and back but its a lie. We waited for over 50 mins for the van to pick us up from Deer Valley one day. Even after calling and requesting to be picked up 3x. Ridiculous.

I will never stay at this dump again.

Two of us stayed here in March 2008 in a studio for 5 nights and had a good experience. The studio rooms are very small but functional. Pull-
down murphy bed (as shown in photos posted by another reviewer on 9/18/
07) with mini-fridge, hot plate and toaster for meals. My only complaint is that the studios have just one sink and no dishwasher so you (and the people before you) wash dishes in the same sink used for shaving & teeth brushing which is kind of gross. Kids will appreciate the ping pong table next to the swimming pool. Washer/dryers in basement. Wireless internet or public-use PC in lobby. Location is very convenient to Park City's excellent public bus service or the hotel shuttle will take you wherever you want to go. I recommend the restaurant "Fuego" across the street - very reasonably priced Italian food in a nice atmosphere. In summary, the Park Plaza is a nice - but not fancy - hotel at a good value.

  • Liked — Good value, convenient to ski slopes
  • Disliked — Only one sink in Studio rooms means you wash dishes in the bathroom
