“Great place to stay for a ski trip with family and friends”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

I stayed in one of the two bdrms in March as the ski season was coming to an end, unlike some of the reviews I read prior to going I was pleasantly surprised as to what we received. Prior to going I was a bit nervous with some of the peoples complaints, upon arrival we were greeted promptly, our room was clean and ready for us, the bedding seemed new with chocolates and a note on the bed... the two bdrm was more than spacious, we had a full kitchen we used for breakfast, free wifi to check snow conditions, and a dip on the jacuzzi after a day of skiing, no complaints from this traveler. The hotel free shuttle took us to Park City Mountain Resort, after one day of staying at the hotel we noticed that all major bus routes stop right in front of the hotel, so we used the city transportation all week and it was fantastic. No need for a car or any hassle, the hotel is located across the street from some of the best Italian food in town, not to mention a handful of other amazing restaurants. I would highly recommend staying at Park Plaza whether your a family or just a ski trip with friends, I know we'll be returning next season! Thanks Park Plaza!

Room Tip: go big or go home... definitely get a two bdrm, full kitchen, great size dining rooms and living roo...

Park city is not a cheap place to stay – FYI. We did a lot of research and based our decision on price and T.Advisor. The photos for park plaza online are not good! However, I was aware that they were doing renovations. Luckily for us, we got a renovated room! Park Plaza is approx. a 30min drive from SLC Airport – I would suggest hiring a car as it is an easy drive when you have a GPS. Park City is quite spread out, so you will need to drive to really get anywhere from the hotel, although nothing is too far away (approx. 5-10mins). The room was spacious, and had a great mini kitchen which we used. The water in the shower was warm, not hot which was disappointing. Also –the walls are thin. Very thin. I was woken up one night by the people in the next room watching a very loud action packed movie. Not happy. I called the front desk and they sorted it out. The pool and spa located in the centre of the hotel was fantastic. So great after a day out on the ski fields. There are 3 areas for skiing – Deer Valley, Park City and The Canyons. After doing some research and visiting all 3 on our first day, we decided that Deer Valley was for us. It was breath taking! And would go back in a heartbeat. I would save up a bit more, and actually stay at Deer Valley resort purely because of the setting.

Dear Giacinta G,

Thank you for taking the time to review our property and share your feedback. All of us here read the reviews and we act upon them as our goal is always to listen to our guests and move forward.

We did take some new photos and we uploaded that to TripAdvisor as well as submitted them to our travel partners and agencies so they can also have the new photos.

We are address the sound - a crew is coming back in a week to improve the sound proofing.

Also our resort is popular with families and our pool is inside (which is not common in Park City) so we do have a lot of happy kids that utilize or pool.

I'm glad you enjoyed our property and city and we look forward to having you stay with us again if you end up in Park City as opposed to Deer Valley.

Kind Regards,

Your Park Plaza Resort and Team.

We've stayed here a number of times and always have an excellent experience. The Resort is well-maintained with a friendly and helpful staff. Rooms have gas fireplaces and are comfortable and well-appointed. Although the resort has a van and provides free transportation to Main Street, Deer Valley and Park City, we like to rent a car and use the underground parking since we like to ski locally as well as at some of the more distant ski areas. It's also across the street from an excellent restaurant, the Grub Steak. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone.

Room Tip: The two bedroom units are located on the corners.

This timeshare place also rents rooms, low cost. The rooms are tiny and squash everything in, including a kitchen sink and stove! But the bed took up most of my room and it was hard to maneuver around the room. It is a good distance from the Main Street, so you can;t walk--and there's not a whole lot of facilities around it. The pool is on the first floor, so the whole place smells like chlorine! I smelled it for a week after my stay. My window had no curtains, only a thin blind that let in a lot of light. The street noise from cars driving by was high--even in the night. The service is low, the front desk people rushed you through and weren't very helpful at all. Everything about it needs updating, no views at all.

Dear Mr. Predman,

Thank you kindly for providing your feedback. I'm also very disheartened to hear we did not meet your expectations.

We are a timeshare resort and we do have 4 kinds of room types. You stayed in our smallest room which sleeps two and has a kitchenette. The value we offer are to guests that do seek more amenities into the room and it's there as a benefit. I'm sorry you were not happy with the offerings. Our larger rooms are larger than other condos in town and have full size kitchens, living room/dining room areas, multiple bathrooms and balconies. Our studios which you stayed in are in the interior of the resort.

We also have taken your comments about the chlorine. This spring we're installing a brand new exhaust above the spa and pool to increase airflow over the pool.

Main Street is 1.5 miles away. We do walk it and it's about 15 to 20 minutes away if you walk versus take our courtesy shuttle.

Again I do want to thank you for selecting our property. I know as a traveler myself that you take the time to select where you stay and I'm truly sorry we did not match your needs.

Many Thanks.

Hannah Zulueta & the Park Plaza Team.

Park Plaza calls itself a "boutique" resort, but don't be fooled by the fancy name. General Manager was completely unprofessional. While trying to procure a room at check in, General Manager turned to a colleague and described Saturdays as "working in a wild animal park". General Manager treats clients as if she is the zoo keeper and needs to keep her clients in their cages. After barking on her intercom in Spanish, still neglecting to even offer us a courteous greeting, she gave us a key to a room that was still being cleaned. As there was no place to sit on the third floor, we returned to the lobby downstairs. General Manager again failed to even acknowledge us. We were asked by a staff member standing next to GM to please go wait in the room WHILE IT WAS BEING CLEANED as this is what they expect from guests (who ever heard of this in any hotel, moreover a boutique hotel!!), or go find something else to do. Clearly, we were not welcome in the hotel lobby. In a BOUTIQUE hotel, the staff and the General Manager treat guests warmly and make polite banter with them. Don't expect that kind of treatment from Park Plaza. When we were given notice that the room was finally cleaned, it wasn't. The housekeeper called out to us to come in and sit while she finished mopping. We couldn't even go near the front door due to the trash and cleaning carts blocking the way. We would have had to clear all of her debris just to even enter the room with our luggage. In addition, the pool sits in the center of the facility. Expect to be bombarded with noise all day and evening if you get a room that isn't further back. Walls are paper thin. Could hear snoring all night long from room next door. Take your money and stay in a real boutique hotel where the meaning of hospitality is honored.

Dear Travelforfun405,

Thank you kindly for your feedback. We've all read it and taken your feedback to learn how we improve.

We did receive your request to check in earlier and wanted to get your room ready for you and should not have allowed you to go to the room until our housekeeping team was completely done. Better coordination on our part is needed as you should not have to be in that place.

Yes - it's no secret we have an indoor pool and a lot of our owners families actually seek and tell us how fun it is for them to vacation and have that as an amenity. Many families enjoying the resort does create a lot of laughter and fun and it does mean that those not in the pool are affected by noise if they are at the resort.

We do post hours of the pool from 9am to 9pm for families with quiet time in the pool from 9pm to 11pm. Pool is closed from 11pm to 9am.

We have been a timeshare resort since 1985 and we have a lot of owners, their kids and families coming year after year and they do stay for 7 nights. And we do enforce the pool hours to alleviate the noise. Most part guests not enjoying the pool are out enjoying the town... come back and either eat dinner or go out for dinner and by the time guests are coming back to retire kids are out of the pool.

We also are taking your feedback in the noise between rooms seriously and looking to address this in our next phase of the renovation for additional soundproofing.

We do recognize as a guest you have plenty of choices and we apologize we did not meet up to your expectations. However we as a team work very hard and we are constantly looking to improve. We invite you to come back again so that we can prove our commitment to service.

Kind Regards,

Hannah Zulueta and the Park Plaza Team.

We were there last weekend. The rooms were lovely though there was some kind of pounding going on at 4am and we could not figure out what it was (not what one may think.....). This trip was to make up for my daughters anniversary when the cable guy ended up working on the television until 9pm, so - -second time around. This time we were in a mini suite. The bedroom was absolutely freezing! We turned up the heater earlier, but it had an automatice shut off, so that would not have helped. The worst part about it for me was when we mentioned it to the front desk the next morning, he was rather cavalier and said that if we would have called they would have simply told us to open the vents more...............if you know it is a problem, perhpas it should be mentioned at at chek-in. Going to a boutique hotel I just expect a little bit more. Will not go again.

We had a wonderful stay at this resort. It is well designed for eat-in or eat-out. Barbecue tools and facilities make it very easy to have a night off from restaurant food. The shuttle service to the downtown area and three ski resorts is amazing. The pool, hot tub, sauna and exercise facilities are excellent. The gas fireplace in the room added to the ambiance The staff are friendly and helpful. The wine and cheese party was much appreciated. If we ski in Park City again, we would definitely stay at the Park Plaza. Book the hotel directly and a better rate will likely be offered rather than booking through Expedia or Hotels.com. These companies charge a commission that would not be paid by booking the hotel directly.

Room Tip: Room sizes vary from 280 sq. feet to over 1100 sq. feet. We found the studio too small and upgraded...

Dear Canuk6070,

Thank you for sharing your experience at the resort. Yes we do stock our kitchens with all the items you need for cozy nights in as well as BBQ out on the porch. We do cater to guests who prefer to relax at the resort as opposed to eating out every night especially for extended stays.

And yes, do call us when you return. We'd love to help you.

Kind Regards,
