“La Quinta Inn & Suites in Orem: insider's opinion”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

This hotel offers a reasonable price for a suite and is pet-friendly.
It was easy to store six large suitcases and three carry-on ones in the two spacious rooms.Despite the pets allowed,it was very clean and there were no barking dogs.
The beds and pillows were very comfortable,so we could rest during the night, but only with the windows closed.Otherwise there was a noise from the street we could hear.
The thing we disliked the most was the breakfast: very limited choice and quantity. The receptionist was also serving the breakfast,so every time the bread or coffee was over, people had to go and tell the receptionist,so it could be replenished.People felt like they had to beg for food! The trash bins were overflowing,so it was not a nice picture! Oh,and the coffee maker was moved to the breakfast area from the lobby for breakfast, then moved back! You will rarely see this anywhere. The poor breakfast service is the main reason I am giving such a low rating to this hotel. La Quinta management should pay special attention to this issue.
The internet was free and every time you turn on your PC,you had to log in and that took a couple of minutes.Sometimes in the middle of your browsing the connection would be lost,so you had to do it all over again.
Finally,I would go back to this chain only if I have no other choice.

This was our first time staying at a La Quinta after hearing they were supposed to be "one of the best" hotel chains to stay in. Let's just say, this was one of the worst hotels we ever stayed at. Upon check in, the clerk seemed to be annoyed that, as if I interrupted whatever she was doing in the back office. Though the room was clean, it had a faint smell of cigarettes, even though we were in a non-smoking room. After using the toilet, we discovered it would not flush properly and had to call for a plunger. The plunger was brought promptly, but handed to me and told to "have fun". No, they did not offer to fix it!! Needless, we had to use the plunger almost every time. Our teenage son nearly got locked/stuck in the bathroom, the door handle was broken and we ended up using a washcloth to prevent getting stuck inside. It was noisy in the hallway and we heard every step of the people upstairs from us. The airconditioner was noisy every time it turned on and kept me up most of the night. The so called breakfast was also the worst we have ever encountered. La Quinta claims a "100% guarantee of satisfaction", HA, I left my review at the hotel and I sent an e-mail of our experience. All I received was a e-mail back stating they "fixed" the problems and that "they hope we will come back soon". THere is NO WAY we will ever book another night with La Quinta.

On our cross country trip we have stayed almost exclusively at La Quintas. This one only ranks slightly above average. We are elite club members and were given a room next to the laundry which was noisy. Outside the window was only a brick wall. They "don't do" cookies to welcome guests. The hotel was happy to give us change for the laundry 50 cents more than any other La Quinta we've stayed in. The room was reasonably clean except for the moldy molding around the tub. Yuck. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was stingy by comparison. Go to Twin falls Idaho to see how hospitality should be done

We often stay at La Quinta Inns because we travel with a large dog. We will not be staying at this location again.

First, there was construction all over the area which is not the hotel's fault, however the instructions we were giving by the hotel on how to reach them through all the detours took us off into some industrial area on the opposite side of the highway. It took us quite a bit of time retrace our route and then 'feel' our way to the hotel.

The room was extremely hot when we arrived because it had been sitting all day closed up with no AC in 100 degree weather. We instantly put the AC on full blast but the room never got down to a comfortable temp for our entire stay. The room was clean enough but could have been much better. The carpet looked filthy but it might have been the age and color, it was worn bald in spots and frayed. The bedding and decor very dated and worn. We were staying i in an awkwardly designed two room family suite and there wasn't enough bedding--towels and pillows--to go around. When I asked the staff for 3 pillows, he only allowed me two. From our reservations we expected 2 pillowtop queens but ending up in a suite with an uncomfortable sleeper sofa and King. We arrived too late and were too exhausted to ask for a different room.

The worse experience was the breakfast. It was skimpy and ill stocked. The staff member working the area was snippy to rude. The fruit looked like it had been there for days. The waffle station was missing the special fork for removing the waffles. When my daughter tried to remove her waffle with a table fork, the waffle stuck. The attendant was extremely put out about having retrieve the special fork and impatient about having to help free the stuck waffle. There was no butter or oleo for the waffles and we asked she barked they didn't have any. We were eating very early in the breakfast time so it wasn't that they had run out, they just didn't have any. They had a poor bread selection and the cereal was stale. In general it was a very satisfactory stay in a hotel chain I usually trust.

This La Quinta doesn't seem as quality as others we've stayed at. Our room was not as clean as it should have been. The sink and shower water pressure were seriously lacking. The breakfast in the morning was the worst. First, it ends at 9am which is much earlier than most other hotels. It was totally overcrowded, not enough places to sit and they had already run out of some foods. What foods they did have were poor quality. The waffle batter seemed old and the cereal tasted stale.
AND lastly, this is not the hotel's fault but there is major construction on the freeway nearby & the sound of jackhammers all night was NOT fun.

First night there the T.V. was black and red in color. Wqas told maintenaince would fix it the next day. No maintainence the next day. Was given a new room. Air conditioner did not work in new room. was given another room, it had not been made up. Took T.V. from 3rd room back to original room and traded. Desk people were very good, complete lack of concerning by management. Will never stay htere again and probably never at a LaQuinta again. If they don't care, I certainly don't care. I do have choices.
