There is something to be said for any business that can stand thetest of time. Unfortunatley, sometimes that history takes over the actual quality of the product and the romance of it all takes over people's experience. That seems to be the case with Farr's. Cute, an institution, dozens and dozens of flavours, cute white paper hats, old time ice cream ambiance......really pretty average ice cream. I'll admit I'm something of an ice cream snob, but I really wanted to love this ice cream and I really didn't. Flavours were muted/lite, not a ton of particulates and small particulate sizes, decent creaminess, but inconsistant. Honestly, you could do much better buying any super premium ice cream in the grocery store. Having said that, I know there are tons of flavours I didn't try, so maybe those are better. The place is cute, it's a local icon and the price was quite cheap. I'd love for other people to try it and prove me wrong - I'm a sucker for the small guy and for the romance of the legend.
