Owner description: For 50 years this stately and historic depot served as a major hub for transcontinental rail service. Today, it remains a monument to grand rail stations of the early 20th-century and includes four museums: the Utah State Railroad Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Browning Kimball Car Museum and the Browning Firearms Museum.

“4 museums, great for history buffs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Besides the beautiful station itself, there are four different museums. There is a small fee for the museums but it covers everything. The train museum is great, with pictures, actual stuff from the building of the line, and a train set that runs over several rooms built by locals to show the actual route. There is a terrific car museum, small but with some stunning cars, a superb Browning gun collection (the Brownings were Ogden residents) upstairs, a small art gallery and a small "cowboy" exhibit. There are also engines and cars outside.

“Great Lunch Menu...Outdoor Seating”

We all had great sandwiches and salads, and the kids (aged 6 and 11) were really happy with their meals too! The atmosphere is family friendly and quaint. Loved it!

“Union Station”

Will bring back memories to those who remember when most people traveled by train. An eloquent building with a large waiting area.

“great for history buffs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

There are several museums located inside the old railroad station. The grounds are beautiful and the inside of the station is gorgeous. There are tall ceilings, beautiful murals, and a nice wide open space.
My boyfriend wanted to go to the Browning gun museum but we ended up looking at a display of cars as well. The gun museum was interesting for him and he even got me to watch a short video on Browning's history.
Several people told us to try the restaurant here but we did not have time to do that.
A few online descriptions of Union Station indicate there is a gift shop but it was more of a gift counter located at the desk where you pay to enter the various museums. They had a few magnets and pins and other standard fare; it was not a gift shop by any means.
On the way out of town, we drove through the street that intersects Union Station. I wish I had gone there instead of the museums as there are tons of cute shops, coffee houses, and cafes there.
Then again, I'd dragged him to several things I was interested in, so hanging with him was the least I could do

Exciting for my husband and very interesting for me. We loved looking at the different trains and peeking through the doors.
