“A little pricey, but worth it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2009

Yes, this place is a little pricier than most restaurants, BUT I would also add that it's the only decent place for miles around. Sure you can spend the gas money and drive far away to some other place, eat at the grocery store, or eat at the fast foodish café at the park, but why would you want to do that, when this place is right there? We actually stayed at Gouldings, and had no problems getting a seat, getting served right away, etc. Of course, we were there in the off season though... In anycase, the food is good, they have a nice salad bar, the meat is fine, etc. No, it's not award winning cuisine, but in the end, you're in the middle of the desert, miles away from anything else, and it's just fine for what you need, and at a reasonable price when you consider all the alternatives.

“iffy service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2008

We ate at the restaurant three times. food was good, but not great, price was ok for area, service was good two times absolutely terrible last time. After waiting 30 minutes for coffee we were finally served, two other tables didn't even get that, they walked out. Do not go when more that just a few people are there, they are so disorganized they can not handle a moderate crowd. Their staff need to be encouraged to be more friendly. No smiles or can I help you attitude. Customer service needs a big improvement.

“Reasonable dining option close to Monument Valley”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2007

Quick Service - we were there at 1 PM.
Decent Menu
Clean restaurant
Nice Views

Food was a bit pricey - but being the only decent place around MV probably had something to do with it! The other option - drive to Kayenta and eat at the fast food joints or the restaurant at the Hampton Inn (that's where we stayed)
The wait staff just went through the motions with an air of indifference.

“Good food with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2006

Our group stayed at Gouldings and enjoyed both a dinner and breakfast at the Stagecoach. Food was very good and the service was adequate. The other reviewers suggestion that you drive into Kayenta for fast food is rediculous. You cannot expect Goulding's to operate a business in the middle of nowhere and not charge you a little more. Make sure you check out the Trading post museum especially the Hollywood room.

“Lunch in the Valley”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2006

Grabbed lunch here on September 12. The food was very solid. I had a salad with crispy chicken and found the produce to be very fresh. The better half had a roast beef sandwich and enjoyed it. There was a water pitcher on our table, which was great after having been in the desert all morning.

The service was good, albeit reserved. Our food wasn't fast, but it obviously had been just completed upon arriving at our table. The views were amazing.

The place does a bustling lunch businss and has tons of tour buses arriving at all lunch-like hours. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly we were seated, greeted and fed.

The biggest downside is the tiny ladies room. It was very clean, but with all those tour buses could have been three times the size.

The other reviewer recommended Kayenta, which is a thirty minute drive. That's an awefully long ride for fast food.
