“Monument Valley and Mystery Valley Tour - excellent day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

Our guide Don was fantastic. He made our full day tour come alive with his information on traditional Navajo customs, discussions on the language and culture (including traditional healing arts). I really liked how he blended in information from the traditional way of life while also talking about what steps were being taken to ensure the language and culture were passed along to the younger generations.
I would highly recommend this full day tour because there are real differences in what you see in Monument Valley vs Mystery Valley. Mystery Valley has some ruins from the Anasazi (pre-Navajo native Americans) and we got to do some exploring. Well worth the money!

“An amazing journey into an ancient place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

Do it! And do it with Navajo Spirit Tours! We just returned from the all day tour and were incredibly lucky to have Larson as our guide. Larson is incredibly fun and was able to share much knowledge of the Dine people and the ancient ones who have inhabited this area for thousands of years. The morning was spent in Monument Valley going beyond the loop road that is open to all. Arches, ancient cliff dwellings, petroglyphs and Larson's beautiful flute playing made for a great morning. After a break for lunch, Larson brought us to Mystery Valley. This is an area of petrified sand dunes and is much less visited than MV. What an exciting afternoon! Be prepared for some 4 wheeling but oh the places you will see up close! We were in awe of the places we saw as we imagined the people who lived here over a thousand years ago. This will be the highlight of our trip and Larson is a true ambassador of the Navajo people. If you have the time, book the all day tour. So worth the cost.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

Our tour was wonderful and our guide Don very knowledgeable. We were traveling to Scottsdale with our 2 small dogs. Navajo Spirit Tours was able to accommodate us with the dogs. They were very professional and I would recommend them without hesitation.

“Magical sunset ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

We loved this unique off road trip through the back roads of Monument valley. We were in a Suburban so visibility wasn't great for everyone but the ride was unforgettable. And we got to see things that most people don't see because there are very few permits for that area. Hold on and enjoy the ride!!!

“Best Way To See Monument Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

See Monument Valley on a guided tour. Its the best way to go. We saw areas not open to the general public and learned about the indian culture. Their love of the land & nature is enviable. We chose the half day Navajo Spirit Tour. I liked the small family feel of their business. We met our guide, Don, in the hotel lobby. He started our tour with a visit to the Hogan out front, telling us about the indian ceremonies held there. A stop at the "Eagles Eye" was interesting. Took me a while to see it in the rock formation. Don sang an indian song that echo'd hauntingly off the cave walls. We stopped at some petroglyphs and he gave us a detailed explanation of the symbols. Don said that National Geographic & the Discovery channel got it wrong when they said one of the figures looked like an alien. Truth is that it's an indian with feathers on his head. He explained that his Navajo language is complicated and gave us some examples. Thats why the 2nd world war code talkers were so successful. They used code inside their language. The word "Turtle" was code for "Tank". September weather was perfect. I'm glad we took this tour. Wish we'd taken the full day tour.
