“good food reasonable prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

some buffet items and Navajo dishes on the menu a la carte. We ordered traditional Navajo fare and it was very good. I'd order it again. Basic layout with picture windows looking out on Monument Valley

“Monument Valley's main restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Quality native american food. No bookings taken so it was a case of first come first served but the service was still pretty good and the staff were very friendly

“"Monumental" Excellence!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

Background: Since my husband is a major John Wayne fan, one of his dreams since forever was to visit Monument Valley and stay at The VIEW Hotel. (He had written about this in his journal in 2009 with a picture of The VIEW Hotel!)

Experience at the restaurant: The view from every table is incredibly beautiful. (Outside seating is available, too!) You are right in Monument Valley with East and West Mitten and Merrick Butte in full view. We couldn't have been happier with the breakfast buffet. Their blue corn pancakes were delightfully sweet, no syrup needed. There was something for most everyone -eggs, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, bacon/ham/ sausage, pancakes, potatoes, salsa, cheese, etc. Our server, Dominic was very attentive and explained the whole dining experience from the buffet to paying at the cashier station. Wonderful!

We don't generally eat lunch when we travel - but there was a soup and salad limited buffet or sandwiches from the cooler for lunch.

Dinner was divine!!! One of the chefs, Garrick, whom we had met in the gift shop had recommended the salmon! When we went for dinner, MacNeal Crank, the Executive Chef, greeted us as we walked in; he also seated us!!! Upon our request, he recommended the Green Chile Chicken Stew with Blue Corn Navajo Fry Bread! Yup! Dan got the salmon and I got the stew!

The salmon was an incredibly tender, large filet with a very flavorful glaze! Awesome! Zucchinis and rice with a roll completed the meal. The flavor of the Green Chili Chicken Stew was delicious, not too spicy, with big pieces of chicken. The fry bread was perfect with the stew...and there was enough to have for dessert with a drizzle of honey!!! My mouth is watering as I write this!!!

Our server, Pamela, was the epitome of excellence! She was very gracious and attentive and shared with us traditional tips about the different items on the menu and even about the area and the people. She certainly added to our love of this area!

The food, the staff who made us feel at home, and the view all are dream fulfilling!

“Dine with a View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

The food is very good and the view makes the experience excellent. I have had bad experiences with tribal restaurants with the food being average and the staff insolent -- not here -- staff were efficient, eager to please and very friendly. Authentic Navajo food was available, excellent and priced very fairly. The breakfast is a buffet and if you are a hotel guest a $5 voucher makes the breakfast $8 -- wow. The menu also had available more traditional american food. We had two dinners, two breakfasts and one lunch and all were very good. This was somewhat surprising as hotel guests are somewhat captive with the nearest food being several miles away and hotel food generally not being the best.
