Stay here just to watch the sun rise, it is an amazing view across to the monuments.
As a motel is provides everything you need for a short stay and there is a mini-market which is walkable. The jeep ride tour into the valley should not be missed either.

Goulding's Lodge management and staff is so pleased to hear that this guest enjoyed their stay with us at our historic property. Nestled at the base of a towering red rock cliff, the lodge offers beautiful panoramic views of the Monument Valley area. Thank you for your comments...

Initially i had called 2 months in advance for the view hotel for stay in peak July season & there was no availability, i called every week hoping for a cancelation but that did not happen. ANYWAY, it didnt really matter because this lodge was available & it was great. As you may already know there are very very limited options to stay in monument valley. We had a room with a view of the general valley, not the same view "the view hotel" has. The property is very old but the rooms have been kept up to date -beds very soft, good air control & a little under average sized room. The small bathroom has an amazing hot shower; only issue is having to keep the window open in the bathroom due to the buildup of steam. The sink is outside the bathroom & is seen immediately when you enter the room. There is nowhere to eat except the restaurant that is on the property, it is priced like the room; high – and the food is good with various options in types of meals. The main butte’s are very nearby less than 2 miles, along with every other attraction in Monument Valley. This place was great overall, I could easily stay here again, very efficient property.

Goulding's Lodge management and staff is so pleased to hear that this guest enjoyed their stay with us at our historic property. Established in the 1920s as a Navajo Trading Post, Goulding's Lodge has a long and diversified Monument Valley history. Thank you for your comments....

Beautiful location with fabulous views of Monument Valley! The room was clean and amenities offered were fine. Took a trip through the valley with a Navaho guide and lunch was provided in the tribal park. Our guide provided our luncheon entertainment by playing a native drum and singing in his native tongue. Be advised that the trip through the park is bumpy and very dusty! But we enjoyed it immensely.

Goulding's Lodge & Tours management and staff is so pleased to hear that this guest enjoyed their overnight stay and Monument Valley tour with us. The full day tour with barbecue hamburger lunch offers the participant the opportunity to explore the magnificent Monument Valley scenery, but also to experience the ruins and rock art panels left by the Anasazi, "The Ancient Ones" of Mystery Valley. Cooked outdoors over an open fire, the barbecue hamburger lunch provided on this tour is one of the most unique lunch experiences you will ever have. Thank you for your comments!!

Fabulous location overlooking Monument Valley with a fantastic view over the valley at sunrise. The room was small but clean and the restaurant on site was alright serving all the usual American food stuffs. There is an on-site store if you wanted something together with a petrol station.
The trip through the valley with a Navaho guide was fantastic but very dusty, so dusty that it required a complete strip down and shower to clean up after, but well worth it

Goulding's Lodge & Tours management and staff is so pleased to hear that this guest enjoyed their overnight stay and Monument Valley tour with us. Our historic property has every amenity, and the view isn't bad either. The Goulding's Monument Valley tours depart directly from the property and are a great way to experience this unique area. Thank you so much for your comments!!

We were traveling with 4 (2 adults + 2 children, 16 and 18 years old) and booked a room with 2 double beds for one night. The comfort of the room was standard but according to what you can expect. The biggest asset of this place is the view you have from the window/terrace which is magnificent.

Gouldings Lodge is a histrorical place too. The trade post of Harry and Mike Goulding is a well preserved museum which you can visit free (tips appreciated).

The least part is the restaurant. Service was only mediocre. I ordered a medium raw steak but got it well done on my plate. The assorted vegetables that came with the steak did not really taste great. They serve no alcoholic drinks (wine, beer), but this is because of the indian culture, which of course we must respect!

The view hotel, which is a few miles nearer to monument valley might be the better location to stay (although we only saw the building and the lodge). But check it out on Tripadvisor to compare before you decide.

Gouldings campground is fine to stay while you are visiting Monument Vslley, not much else available close by. It is a clean campground but tight spaces between lots. Even packed almost full there is not a lot of noise which was nice. There was an annoying dusk to dawn light across from us so if you plan on taking night star images or using a telescope it's not going to work.

There is a nice view of the valley from the campground which is surrounded by red rock.

The bathrooms were ok, showers had no dry area to stand after your shower. All showers drained to one place which didn't give you the cleanest feel. Toilets were clean.

Wonderful View, especially at sunset.
The members of staff were very pleasant and efficient.
Our room, however, was quite small and dark, with very noisy, but reasonably effective air-con.
The room was clean and the bed quite comfortable.
It is more of a motel than a hotel, with parking right outside each room. This means that if the folk next door are moving on early, you are likely to awake to the sound of trunks being loaded, doors being slammed and engines spluttering into life.
You need to be aware that the establishment is on a reservation and therefore therefore there is no alcohol: You need to bring your own if you like to take a 'nightcap' before bed.
The restaurant will not be winning any Michelin stars: the hotel is isolated and there is no competition, so no incentive to improve.
It is however worth a one night stop for the sunset.
