“Would definitely stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2009

First off, the main picture shown above on Tripadvisor.com is incorrect. Go to Bestwestern.com for correct pictures. Stayed here for closest access to Needles district of Canyonlands (about an hour away). Nice & clean room, good size, plenty of hot water. Breakfast was standard fare--toast,englishmuffins, pre-made waffles, cereal, oatmeal, donuts, juice, coffee, tea, bananas but they also had hard boiled eggs which was definite plus! The only complaint was traffic noise from the street which is probably unavoidable since this is a 1 or 2 street town (bring earplugs). Also, the door to my room kind of jams a bit so it was a little hard to lock. Besides those 2 minor issues, all else went well. This town is really small & did not see hardly any places to eat--ended up eating at the Taco Time which was probably the busiest place in town.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff & management were very friendly. A great value for the price.

We stayed at the Wayside Inn in April and was expecting a ho-hum hotel, but was pleasantly surprised. The room had microwave, fridge and was larger than most. The staff was very friendly. Would recommend a stay

Because we had to spend a night in between Monument Valley and Moab we ended up in this hotel. Nice, spacious room and a lovely place at the pool ...BUT this pool was not heated...cold water...that can be aproved ! breakfast was the minimum but enough to hold on... The rececption was good and friendly people; they gave us a great tip for diner in Monticello: Lamplight Restaurant & Lounge...what a fine place to eat. As Belgian gastronomics we were satisfied !
the hotel is no Hilton, just average.

The best thing about this older Best Western is that it's one story and you can park in front of your door. The motel appears to be understaffed. We had two of the four bulbs over the bathroom sink not working and the girl at the desk had to close up the office to search for bulbs. She found only one. The breakfast room, in a separate building next door, left a great deal to be desired.

We did a road trip from Denver and although weren't expecting much highlights in Monticello were still disappointed staying here. We only saw one member of staff who did the check-in and breakfast room, no doubt she works hard but seemed as cold as the blizzard raging outside when we were there. It seems about the only eatery in town is the Lamplight restaurant down the road, the food here was nice and so were the staff but we had to wait a while for a table. The motel rooms are really big and were clean. We stayed in Moab a few nights before Monticello which is a far nicer place to stay, I think this spoiled us!

This is what you would expect of a standard motel in a very small city. It is a drive to your door type motel. Standard small town place. Old carpet and look but seemed to be well maintained. Friendly front desk. No complaints but nothing exceptional either. Our room did not have a fridge so you may wish to ask about this at the desk as some other reviews mention a fridge. The place is on a busy highway so you will get some truck noise but it did not seem too pronounced. The wireless internet seemed to work fine.

  • Disliked — Old feel to it
