My husband and I just stayed at The Homestead over the Christmas 2008 holiday. It was nicer than I ever expected it to be! We have traveled all over the world and this is such a quaint and lovely resort with so many amenities. The rooms are sweet and there are so many amenities located right on the property to enjoy: cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, pools, hot tubs and swimming in their volcanic crater. There is also a spa located on the property as well as 2 restaurants, all very nice with fireplaces and big picture views of the outdoor sweeping landscape! There are horses there for dinner sleigh rides, snowmobiles and Park City, Utah is about a 20 minute ride to get to the slopes if you'd like. What can I say...it was so much more than I expected and we hope to make it a yearly Christmas tradition for now on! SO GO AND ENJOY......you will be so glad you did!

This picturesque country inn is a superb getaway location:
- Many separate small lodging bldgs (we were in Milk House)
- Well appointed cosy rooms with antique furniture like a B&B
- Nice central lodge with fireplaces, beautiful views of golf course, duck pond, etc.
- So many activities including swimming/diving in natural hot springs crater, cross country skiing, hiking, snow shoeing, horse driven sleigh rides, summer horseback rides, full golf course, tennis. Rental equip available for all activities.
- Good restaurant grill with scenic views and fireplace
- Excellent weekly buffet in upstairs well laid out dining rooms
- courteous, friendly staff
- reasonable rates
- 1/2 hr away from Park City ski resorts

Great Hotel – This was our 6th & 7th day of our Yellowstone trip. The Homestead Resort was a pleasant surprise. The room was excellent. Spacious, nicely decorated. The grounds looked like a park. Breakfast was included for our two night stay. After eating the usual “dry and boring” breakfast at other hotels, this was great. Breakfast was at their restaurant, and you could order anything on the menu. The staff was professional and friendly. The golf course was fun, and well maintained. We plan on coming back next year with some friends.

  • Liked — Pleasant place to stay
  • Disliked — Wasn't cheap. About $300 a night with golf.

It was for my birthday. We wanted to get away from our basement apartment where we live under a family of 7 and rarely have it quiet. We paid the big price to stay at the Homestead for much needed quiet tranquility. Instead, above us in our cottage was a group of occupants who stayed up all night laughing and partying. We never slept. It was a miserable night. The next morning we talked to the front desk and she acted like she didn't believe us because we hadn't contacted anyone during the night. Whatever. Although she gave us a partial discount on our room, we'll never stay there again.

Firstly, let me disclose that I am not an unbiased reviewer of the Homestead. This wonderful place has been a part of our family traditions for my entire life. I even have a photo of myself eating an ice cream cone on the Homestead lawn when I was 1 year old (I won't mention how many decades ago that was). This year, our family stayed in a deluxe double-queen during mid-winter, and totally enjoyed the experience. I recommend booking an upstairs deluxe room, since they have vaulted ceilings and large windows as skylights. The room decor was a very inviting country-quilts type of feel, which caused our 10-year-old daughter to exclaim "This is the best place anywhere!" The ducks and geese in the hot-spring-heated water outside of Fanny's grill are delightful to watch (and feed) in the wintertime. And everyone should swim in the warm waters of the hot springs crater at least once in their life. Rates are much lower if you book ahead on the hotel's own website. Be aware that housekeeping staff leaves by the late afternoon, so make any special requests early in the day. We will be returning here for many more years to come; the garish new resorts being built across the lane can never have that homey feel of the Homestead.
