“Skiers, You cannot beat this for value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2012

If you are a hotel snob looking for desk clerks in navy blue suits selling loyalty programs at check in then this is not for you. However, If you are looking for value and convenience with great customer service then stop searching the internet for deals and call Kori at the Midvale Super 8 to arrange a ski package. This is an owner operated hotel with American business values. You will not find a better spot in the Salt Lake City Valley to base a ski trip. The UTA Ski Bus stop is a 3 minute walk away, the return stop even closer. The nearby See N Ski will pick you up and your rental return can be left at the hotel. Unlike other locations, the UTA Ski Bus runs the nearby Fort Union/ 7200 all day not just one run up like other locations. Restaurants within walking distance are numerous. There is a large grocery store within easy walking distance. As mentioned you cannot beat this location for value and convenience.

Room Tip: I booked a suite which included a frig and microwave. Second flor room was warm without running the...

The staff at the hotel provide excellent service, going out of their way to answer our requests and offering local information and coupons. They arranged rides and helped with rentals. The hotel was in good shape with a hot tub and reasonable size rooms. It is convenient to local places to eat and to the city bus to the ski areas. A car was not needed. Breakfast was not to write home about.

Room Tip: Rooms in the rear are quieter

Kori and her team do a fantastic job. Great ski package, bus, shuttle, and breakfast included rates. Very responsive staff. Clean hotel, close walk to bus. No need for a car. Restaurants nearby.

Duifficult pedestrian crossing either busy highway. Real beer, wine, or the hard stuff not close at hand.

Room Tip: Pick second floor to avoid disturbances above

This was the best way to ski the 4 resorts of Snowbird, Alta, Brighton and Solitude - the Super 8 is right on the bus route which is included in your "super pass" - obtained through the hotel at a reduced and very competitive rate. Convenient and perfectly adequate breakfast - make it up yourself with H&C drinks, cereals, donuts, toast, bagels and fruit.
3 mins to bus stop and then about 45/50 mins to each resort. Hotel offers airport pick-up service foc!!!! (Only 15/20 mins to airport)
Eateries are not so abundant but several, well -priced restaurants within 10 min walk - Famous Daves, Hoppers grill, Texas Lone Star (but watch out for "automatic gratuity" charge (18%), Bucca de Peppo italian across the road. Smiths grocery supermarket across the road and Walmart round the back of that , too.
No 72 (or ski bus) bus takes you to SLC Trax rail system (10mins) for a visit to downtown within 20 mins - must see Temple Square and shopping centres.
If you take a day off skiing and therefore don't have an activated pass for the day then it is only 5.50 bucs for a day pass on all buses and Trax.

Super 8 staff were excellent - no trouble to phone restaurant bookings, cabs etc - they even searched a deal on a GoPro headcam for me and I saved £150 against UK price. Staff always cheerful and obliging and the total cost of our 11 night trip with 9 days skiing included was considerably below travel company quotes.
if you are a discerning skier this is an ideal way to ski in those Wasatch mountains!!
Get onto Kori Thompson - General Manager, she is soooo helpful and gave us a great deal.

Room Tip: They have a few studio rooms at not a great extra cost.

Price wasn't the same as the written confirmation. Horrible service. Very dirty. Ants in the breakfast area. Flooding toilets. Ruined our Christmas vacation!

When we scheduled online the reviews seem favorable, good value for the money etc.
As it turns out our visit was as nice as could be expected, truely a no smoking establishment, the staff were all very nice, and every thing was clean comfortable. Also a good walkable location for food and shopping. Will use this one on the next stay for sure. They even had a pretty decent offering for breakfast.

Glospur, Cori and Brandon were great. This is a budget motel with small soaps. But the staff went out of their way to help our group. They opened up the dining area at night so that our group could bring in dinner there. I checked out in the morning but they let me use the hot tub after skiing before my red eye flight home. The free Wifi worked great. The included breakfast featured excellent waffles. The rooms were clean. Good location if you are going to ski several mountains especially Brighton, Solitude, Alta and Snowbird.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have a microwave and a refrigerator.
