We are a retired English couple who take an annual roadtrip to the USA, checking out Americana for all we are worth!
We have visited a number of (ex) film studios and locations on our travels, and included the pretty and spotlessly clean city of Kanab because of it's film history.
Checking out the motels, we spotted the gorgeous preserved 1940's sign for Parry Lodge, and what a find!
Everyone, from John Wayne and Clint Eastwood to Omar Sharif has stayed here, and the rooms are named accordingly. The small sitting room next to the lobby is a great place to sit and read about the great days of film.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast, tasty and generous, but the star of the show is the pool.
Hollywood shaped, and edged with roses and parasols, you can imagine yourself Rita Hayworth or Gregory Peck, lounging stylishly and perhaps smoking a cigarette through a long holder. Or reading a book through your glamourous sunglasses at one of the shady tables, sipping coffee (which is available all day).
Only intending to stay one night, this place seduced us and we ended up staying for three. Films are shown in the barn on Wednesdays, but you know how it is with film stars - lounging, a dip in the pool, a bit of shopping, it's too, too exhausting darling, to do it all!
