5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

Over the years I have found Aikens Lodge consistent in provide comfortable and very clean rooms as well as great hospitality. They real care about their guest and due whatever they can to keep them coming back. All of this for a very completive price. My first choice in Kanab.

Great value and location. I have to admit I was a little nervous about this hotel, but was pleasantly surprised! The room was spotless. Even had a mini fridge. Older decor, but very clean. Traveling with my husband and 2 kids.

On our recent road trip across the US we stayed in 9 different hotels in 2 weeks and the Aikens Lodge was the gem that stood out from all the others. This is a smaller mom and pop motel ran by a couple that appear to live on premise. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. It is obvious that the owners are proud of their place and they deserve to be proud.

The hotel is located fairly centrally in Kanab. It has a very, small open-air swimming pool, with parking directly outside each motel room.
My room which was not particularly big had a queen-size bed that was really, really comfortable, a table with two chairs, and one bedside cabinet. It hardly had any power points. There was a bath/shower in the bathroom. Free coffee was available from reception, where the staff were friendly and helpful.
I would not stay there again, but I am not sure there is much choice of accommodation in Kanab.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

This exterior corridor motel is located on the main street in Kanab. There was adequate free parking. Check-in was quick and friendly. The Aikens Lodge is an old-style motel that still uses regular keys and paper sign-in forms, but it has been meticulously maintained and was very clean. The Aikens Lodge is all non-smoking, a trend I’d love to see become universal.

The smallish room contained two queen beds. The painted walls were decorated with framed art. Furnishings included a chest of drawers, a single night table, a tall desk with two stools, a refrigerator and a hair dryer. The small flat-panel TV was mounted facing the first bed but did not swivel, so occupants of the second bed had to watch at an angle. The Wi-Fi connected easily and speeds were fine. A computer was available for guest use in the office.

The bathroom had a separate room for the tub and toilet, which is nice if someone wants to use the bathroom or take a shower while someone else is using the vanity. The only downside is that the vanity area was open to the bedroom, so any light or sounds could wake a sleeping person. The vanity was about 3 feet wide, so space was limited.

The air conditioner kept the fan on continuously as the compressor cycled. This is much better than the usual setup where the fan goes off with the compressor making an abrupt change in the noise level, which can awaken occupants.

There was no breakfast offered, or coffeemaker in the room, but there was free coffee in the lobby. We opted to have breakfast at the nearby Houston’s Trail’s End Restaurant.

Overall, the Aikens Lodge was very clean, quiet and comfortable, though my wife found the old style room and furnishings less to her liking. I’d certainly stay again, but my wife would probably opt for something more modern.

My fiance and I stayed here on a two week road trip and this place was perfect! The room was really large, the beds were comfortable and firm, and the location was very convenient. The room had 60's style (in a sparkling clean way) that was really charming. The price was great, we would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is old with no attempt to update the rooms. The rooms smell bad and the carpet gave my son a rash after kneeling on it. If it were located in any other town it would be a $30 a night hotel. If you are spending $100+ for a night you really should expect a whole lot more. Look for newer hotels around town and book early. We stayed here because the Holiday Inn and Best Western were already booked up. I'm sure there are plenty of better places to stay in town or at least some that don't charge a premium price. Broken tiles in the tub, bad caulk job and a slow draining sink...need I continue? AVOID THIS ONE!

Nobody is held hostage at our motel, if you hated the room so bad we would have gladly returned your money and you could have moved on and everyone would be happy. Sorry that you did not enjoy your stay as much as the other reviewers have. Aikens Lodge
