“Beautiful, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

I have skied all the mountains in the Park City, Big / Little Cottonwood, and Ogden areas, this place is beautiful... but I am giving it an average rating due to service was nothing special, several trails were not clearly marked, terrain labeling (Green, Blue and Black) was not consistent with other mountains, very little terrain for family fun, and food was average at best...

“undiscovered”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

We have skied at this resort for years and always have great service. This year I had an unfortunate accident and ski patrol was OUTSTANDING. The ski school is very organized and professional and the daycare is top notch. The gourmet food at the lodges will ensure you ski the afternoon to burn the calories.

“Very impressed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

Snowbasin is a real gem with its proximity to Ogden, UT. I've visited resorts in SLC, Denver, and Tahoe and Snowbasin left nothing to be desired. Even though the car park was full the mountain wasn't very crowded. Plenty of runs all over and on the back side of the mountain to get away from the beginners. The man-made snow was good, which was lucky because it had been about 10-days since any substantial snow had fallen. Talk to the locals and they will happily tell you where to go to find the best runs.

Facilities were excellent and the food was not overpriced.

“Great lodge but few slopes for beginners”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

We visit this area of Utah each year to ski and Snowbasin has the best lodge in the area. Since Olympic money was dumped into this place, the lodge, lifts, and the like are beautiful and nice. The runs are however a bit more difficult than marked compared to Park City or the closer Powder Mtn. The map shows very few green runs and the blue runs can have some steep areas in them. If you are a good to very good skier the place is fantastic but if you are not so good the few trails available will get boring.
The lower lodge area is great with a lot of tables and outdoor fire pits to sit and watch everyone come down.
If you are going to get lessons and learn for the first time, they have a very good bunny hill and lift set up and I believe they teach Burton 3 day learn to ride program.
As for the location, it sits away from a lot. If you want to stay at mountain and have the bars and stuff, this place is not the right fit. No lodging available at the ski resort so must stay a 5-10 min drive away. If you want the local feel it is a good fit.

“A World Class Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

Being a avid skier who has skied in almost every state in the Union and out of country and also has been a ski patroller for the past 18 years I have this to say about Snowbasin. Most people coming into Utah to ski the resorts like Snowbird, Park City, Deer Valley or Alta have never heard of Snowbasin. Snowbasin being the sister resort to Sun Valley offers world class skiing with the amenities to go with it. The resort is just a short 40 minutes away from downtown Salt Lake and offers 104 runs and 11 lifts. The runs are long and you can ski powder days after a big storm whereas if your up Little Cottonwood Canyon the powder is gone within the first couple of hours. The price of a day pass is $86.00 which is a far cry better than the other resorts which start at $90.00 and go up from there. For more information on this great resort go to Snowbasin.com and you will be glad you did.
