“Rustic, very comfortable, log lodge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

This was exactly the type of accommodation we were looking for as we were sightseeing in this area of Utah. It was "off the beaten" path so there were no dining options other than at their restaurant but the restaurant was quite nice and not unreasonably priced. Visiting in the summer, it was almost like we had the place to ourselves.

The room was very large and comfortable with two comfy chairs, a king size bed, a fireplace (the kind you flip the switch to turn on but it does provide some heat) and a balcony overlooking the wooded hillside. The bathtub was huge and deep and was great for a relaxing soak. There was also a pool and hot tub but we did not use those facilities.

Mostly I enjoyed the ambiance of the lodge, decorated with wooden carved bears (life size or larger). There were a lot of gathering spaces in the lodge for those who were traveling with others.

There was a 3 mile trail from the lodge that my husband explored and enjoyed. It is probably used much more as a cross country ski trail rather than a hiking trail however.

When we checked in and when we checked out, the only person on duty was busy on the phone so it took a while to be waited on.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the woods

Daniels Summit Lodge is located about 20 minutes from Heber City on Route 40. It consists of a large hotel-style lodge (with conference rooms), some nearby cabin-style accommodations, and a restaurant with general store. Service is minimal, but they will help you arrange for some activities which in the summer time includes horseback riding and ATV rentals. Restaurant is OK - about Cracker Barrel level in quality - and the store has a few gifts plus some essentials (food, toiletries).

I've stayed here a couple of times now and just am not impressed by this place. The staffing is not particularly adept, the facilities feel a bit worn, and the rooms are not particularly comfortable. Air conditioning was not very effective and our room smelled like a gym locker. Cleanliness of linens was below par.

In addition, there is not really a lot to do on the property, even in terms of walking/hiking. So to me, it doesn't really make sense to use this as a base of operations for this area as there are nicer places less than an hour away.

Room Tip: Since the air conditioning system is not particularly good, you might do better in a first-floor roo...

Stayed here for a conference of about 50 Episcopal clergy. Rooms are very nice, clean, spacious and comfortable. I had one facing the highway, but highway noise was pretty minimal. Rooms away from the highway had a lovely view of a stream and aspens. Lodge itself is nicely laid out, and conference rooms worked great. Decor is what I call "imagined Western," meaning lots of logs, antlers, and vaguely Native American-looking rugs. The food was good. The pool is small, but fine. The "workout room" consists of a treadmill, an elliptical glider, and a recumbent bike crammed in a tiny room, that's my only critique. Otherwise it worked great. Our group wound up rebooking for the next year's conference, so I think it is a great conference spot within very reasonable driving distance of Salt Lake City.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the highway.

I stayed here for a work-related conference. It is located right on the highway connecting Heber snd Vernal Lodge and rooms are beautiful, but it is primarily a snow-mobile resort, so aside from being a nice place to stay in the middle of nowhere, there is nothing to recommend it to summer-time visitors except limited conference facilities (a few small meeting rooms & one large one) and a corral if you have horses. High country aspens provide the only landscape

Buffet food was excellent (cooked by the chef from the restaurant next to the nearby general store). Staff was friendly, but surprisingly uninformed about hiking trails, nearby attractions, etc. Pool was small, cold, and poorly maintained, but rooms have jetted tubs. Some also have balconies & fireplaces, but only fake plastic fires. Since costs were paid by my company, I can't evaluate the value except with reference to room quality & lack of nearby attractions.

Located on top of the world outside Heber city it's beautiful. The staff could not have been more helpful. We rented snowmobiles for 4 hours and had a blast. Well groomed trails and great sleds it will go down as one of our best family experiences. Sit back relax and breath deep life can't get much better than this. Food is great makes things that much better.

I am a local, so i know what i'm talking about when I say this place is a snowmobilers dream! My boyfriend and I both enjoy the sport. He owns his own machine, but I don't so we have to rent one for me when we go out. This place has a fleet (were talkin' 20-25 brand new snowmobiles) available at the most affordable prices I've seen anywhere in the state. The back country is full of fresh powder and amazing cornices, and the local trails aren't too bad either. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, especially Linda who is always so sweet. (You MUST try her home-made fudge! Rocky Road all the way!) This place is at the top of my list when i refer friends, family, and now YOU!

We headed out to Daniels Summit to go snowmobiling with the family to celebrate our mother's birthday. The drive from Park City to the Lodge was beautiful, an easy drive on highway 40. The General Store was packed full of fun local items and a great assortment of snacks as well. Linda K and Gordy, who helped us register for our snowmobile adventure were so welcoming and patiently answered all of our questions.

The 20+ mile loop they have for snowmobiling has gorgeous views and a great mix of twisty trail and fast open areas. This is the best area I've ever seen for this type of activity.

We lunched at the "country" restaurant afterwards. We all enjoyed our meals.

Fantastic 1/2 day or 1 day outing, a must do!!... I can't praise the experience or the wonderful people that run the operations enough!!
