we come through Filmore every year this time of year and always stay at this particular comfort inn. Even though it's more expensive than the other 2 hotels in Fillmore, it's usually the cleanest and my kids like the pool. This year however, we had several issues that will keep us from staying here again next year. First, we noticed that our door never locked properly. I was going to ask for another room, but figured out that if I use all my might and push real hard, the door would lock. Then, we all needed showers after being on the road for 12 hours that day. Our shower made a high pitched piercing sound every 15 seconds that we could not get to stop. I tried to deal with it, since it was getting late and we were very tired, but my son refused to shower because the sound was scaring him, so we then asked for another room. The front desk person was a young man who quickly gave me a new room no problem, but no apology or anything. Upon moving all of our bags upstairs to the new room, I noticed that the hotel had gotten quite crowded (it was a Friday night). There was a large group of rednecks outside on the pool patio with at least 4 or 5 cases of beer sitting on the ground about half drunken. I had promised our kids they could use the pool one more time before bed, but changed my mind due to the these guests. Our new room was nice and clean like the first, and we were glad the shower worked without squealing and the door locked properly. We all got showers then went to bed. I put the air conditioner on high, as my family and I like to sleep in a cool room, then we went to bed. About 2 hours later, we all woke up around 2 am sweating and uncomfortable. We were surprised at the fact that we were All awake. I got up to check the air, and it was still on High cool. I soon figured out that the air conditioner stays on for 5 minutes, then shuts off for 20. Not enough to keep the room cool. I am not sure if the hotel does this on purpose to save on energy... because the last 6 hotels we had just stayed at on our vacation all had constant running air conditioners or at least the option. We all peeled off our blankets and talked for a while since none of us could sleep because the air wasn't staying on. After very little sleep and another long day of driving ahead of us, we woke up and planned on getting the hotel's breakfast on our way out. We tried several times, but a very large family was remaining in the breakfast room for a long time. We finally squeezed in there to grab a coffee and walked to burger king across the parking lot to grab breakfast for our kids before hitting the road. I know this is not the hotel's fault that certain guests stay in the breakfast room way too long, but it was pretty much the last straw. oh and btw, this is the only hotel in america whose maids put the toilet paper rolls going under instead of over. lol. We will not return next year because of our several bad experiences.
