“Very nice B and B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

We really enjoyed our stay at Canyons B and B! The room was cozy, clean and comfortable, the host Cate was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was wonderful. Cate provided lots of information about local hikes and attractions and helped us find a great place for dinner. We will be back.

Wonderful B&B. Room and breakfast were both first class. Really enjoyed sitting out on the patio with a glass of wine after a long day of hiking...don't miss peekaboo and spooky slots. Long drive, but worth it.

Pros - For the VERY small town of Escalante this is really nice! I suspect the nicest place to stay in town. Great decor, really comfy (king) bed, quiet A/C and windows that actually open to allow the crickets to sing to you and the breezes to blow (and to hear the traffic but that is under the cons). The hostess could not be more accommodating. So what more do you want out of your B and B experience - Clean, Comfy, Cozy and Quiet. Answer: Breakfast! Our offering was her 'famous' "fluffy scrambled eggs" - before you say anything this was far from any ordinary scrambled egg breakfast. I like to feel a little "pampered" at B and B's with a breakfast that is fancier than I would/could make and I was not disappointed with what might seem like a basic scrambled egg. Nice robes in the closet, coffee maker in the room, nice covered porch in a scenic setting, nice strong shower and a fridge available (not in room).
Cons - If you want an early start on your hiking in the area you will probably miss out on the yumms for breakfast but the "breakfast area" is open to you so you could grab something. This is a place you will want to spend some time at and "lounge" so if you want just a room you will have a very nice room but miss out on why you would pay the premium price...we wanted more of the 'experience' and felt we got everything we had expected. We stayed in the 'lodge' room and it faced the street so any road noise was apparent when we opened the window - granted there was not much to hear but if we did this again we would have chosen a room that was not facing the street. The only other con has nothing to do with the B and B but be warned...there is not much in the area or restaurants in Escalante.
Overall - If you want to be about the destination - stay here. I like B and B's for that reason...if you want just a place to bed for the night...???

Room Tip: If it is cool enough to open the windows go for a room that doesn't face the street.

We just did a great trip of several national parks. Canyons B&B was by far the best place we stayed. The appointments in our room were outstanding. The garden was gorgeous. The breakfast was exceptional. We want to go back soon. Cate is very pleasant and made the visit even better. Highly recommended.

Read Trip Advisor and followed the ratings and booked in for two nights at Canyon B&B.
Cate was a wonderful host...made everyone feel welcome and had great recommendations..
Suggested renting a jeep (instead of using my own car) from Dale (High Adventures Rentals 1 435 772-6529, with a GPS & Spot emergency locator and a detailed hand drawn map with Dale's secret places). Had a blast driving the Hole in The Rock Road in a yellow jeep
Cate's breakfasts are not to be missed.
We stayed in the Cowboy room..lasso, spurs and branding iron included..

Room Tip: Book early since there are only 4 rooms. Self check in so you can arrive even late in the evening.

This was our fifth time staying with Cate and it was great, as usual. We always like the Garden Room, a corner with good lighting. Breakfast is hearty and starts at 8 AM, you can help yourself to cereal, coffee and juice if you want to leave early.

We can easily access Hole in the Rock Rd, the Escalante River Canyon and many other hikes from here.

Thanks again, Cate

Can't believe we went all the way to Escalante and found someone who knows people we work with back in Colorado. Kate is the best! Her breakfasts are out of this world. Bed was too!
