“Slightly dated but OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

We stayed here for 4 nights in August. Room was clean but furnishings dated. They are in the process of renovating. Owner very helpful when wifi didnt work. Restaurant OK but had to eat inside due to flies.

A friendly motel, very clean. It is an excellent choice for everybody looking to explore the beautiful country around Escalante. I always stop here coming back from backpacking trips in the region. The restaurant nearby serves good food, or one can walk along UT 12 for a pizza at the Escalante Outfitters.

We chose this little place because of the price, and after staying realized we should have paid an extra $10-$15 and stayed someplace nicer.

Although visibly clean, our room was stuck in the late 70s or early 80s. The sink was cracked. The window had been painted to the point it couldn't be opened. The a/c unit was tucked back in a corner, so it wasn't able to circulate through the room very well. We had to unscrew the light bulbs in the ceiling fan so we could it leave it on all night, along with the a/c set at 68 degrees. Finally got cold 12 hours later. We also had a bunch of gnats that kept getting in our room somehow, even though the doors and windows were all closed tightly. The mattress onm our bed felt like an old one, and I had a spring in my side no matter which way I turned. The restaurant, though close, was closed by 6:00pm on our Wednesday night trip. The meni in our room didn't seem to have a good enough variety to be worth exploring for breakfast. Disappoining stay!

We arrived very late, keys were waiting for us in the rooms. Rooms were standard, basic motel rooms, but clean and all worked well. Good WiFi. Good breakfast in the hotel restaurant (not included in the room price).

This is a fine little motel It is in the process of being renovated which apprears to be a slow process but we have stayed here enroute many times. It now has the addition of a restaurant which is great and the restaurant down the road is great too. not much in town but plently not far away.
It is not the Ritz so don't expect it.You get what you pay for. it is clean and comfortable and we will stay again when our route takes us that way. Pity there is no longer a pool but there are BBQ facilities
Free wifi was fine and working!!

Room Tip: We always have a king room but there is only 2 of us.

My $75 plus tax put me in a room that was under construction, with an unsealed window frame, and gaping AC hole sealed with duct tape and a black trash bag. Tons of flies in the room too. Wish I stayed at Escalante Outfitters instead.

We booked this motel based on the great reviews here, but cannot share the enthusiasm. At a steep $90 this motel was average at best, not especially clean with some wear and tear especially in the bathroom. The room was comfortable, but would be more appropriately priced around $59. Service was non-existent.

I have the feeling, the owners of this hotel are resting a bit on their laurels. We have no serious complaints, but would probably not stay in Escalante again (we loved our little quirky motel in Hatch, for example) or try Prospector Inn across the road instead.
