“Great for a State Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

Most State Parks are strictly for camping, this one has that and so much more. Kodachrome Basin State Park is a spectacle of towning sandstone chimneys, changing in color and shadow with the day's mood. I was there early and being the 6th of February, there was nobody else around. The views were great, the roads not frozen, and the air was clear and clean. Besides camping, there is hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and of course spectacle sights for photographers. Its worth the trip!

“nice park with good amenities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

We stopped here between visiting Capitol reef NP and Bryce Canyon. Very enjoyable. We have an RV and stayed overnight. You'll have the park to yourself (with other campers) after 5 pm. The showers are fabulous, clean and well designed. One person showers with bolted doors. They are located behind the restrooms (we almost didn't find them). Camp store has ice and basics you might need. Cabins available looked nice from outside.

Disappointment that the road to Grosvenors Arch is unpaved and we didn't feel like risking our suspension driving it. Nowhere nearby to rent a jeep to explore that as well as other roads in Grand Staircase-Escalante. ATV's available but with chance of rain always a summer event didn't want to risk our cameras that way.

Horseback rides available in season and horses are on-site.

“A nice break from the overcrowded National Parks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

This is a beautiful state park and, at the time we went, there were only a few other people in the area. There are many things you can see from the road, so if you are not a big hiker, you can still see many cool rock formations. It's nice to get to things without having to fight through crowds and traffic.

“Beautiful scenery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

So pretty and interesting! Nice easy hikes for the non-athletic types (like my daughters and I). Check out Shakespere Arch if you go.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this park. The trails were fun for evening hikes and our cabins were wonderful!
