“Ideal Location, nice rooms, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

We stayed for 2 nights to visit Bryce canyon. The location of Ruby's is ideal for that, just some miles before the park entrance. The rooms are nice, spacious, clean and quiet (if you get one in the front building ask for one further back). Ruby's offers one stop shopping: hotel, gas station, big store with souvenirs, clothes, a supermarket, camping etc. The restaurant is worth its money if you take the buffet (available for breakfast, lunch and dinner) . It can be crowded - as everything else is closed in March, but staff is very friendly.

Room Tip: Rooms in the buildings further away from the road ar quieter

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are very close to the entrance to Bryce Canyon, which makes us a great starting point for your exploration of the National Park. I'm glad you were able to visit our General Store which, like you said, is pretty well-stocked with most things a guest may need.

We appreciate your comments and hope to have you visit again! If we can be of assistance in the future, please contact us at 435-834-5341.

Sincerely,

Manager's Assistant

This hotel was alright, I guess. My room was very basic but, then again it was $80/night. I ate at the hotels restaurant, which had decent food but, the interior was very basic as well. My server was nice and timely even though she was clearly busy. If I visit again I'll likely stay here again. No complaints.

The Ruby was right at the gates for Bryce Canyon and as such was great. It is very large and has a real monopoly on the area which is not a bad thing but makes it fairly generic. We had no choice as to where we ate as all restaurants were closed for winter, but the food was ok, if a little mass produced. Breakfast was great and quite cheap surprisingly. The room was comfortable and the bedding and beds fresh. It was extremely cold and the heating was excellent. Parking free and easy. I would stay there again but maybe not for a long stay. It was perfect for the one night to explore the canyon and drive on.

Room Tip: We stayed in a lodge not the man part of the hotel and it was fine . Quiet and parking right at the...

Thank you for your stay with us at Best Western Plus Ruby's Inn. The local restaurants do close down for the winter, but I'm glad you were able to get a good breakfast at the Cowboy Steakhouse.

I had read the reviews before I made my choice of where to stay, and they steered me in the right direction. Initially thought I wanted to stay in the main lodge, but was placed in the Deer Lodge as pets aren't allowed in main lodge rooms. It worked out pretty nicely. The room and bathroom was clean and spacious. The guest laundry was modern and very clean. Yes, it was rather inconvenient to use the pool and hot tub, but we just drove over, changed there, and drove back to our room - no big deal. The other Best Western is the next-best-choice in town, but we learned that the guest there use Ruby's indoor pool and hot tub during the winter months, and people aren't kidding - Ruby's restaurant is the only game in town this time of year, so as far as convenience goes, Ruby's has it all over the Grand. The restaurant menu is very limited (perhaps 10 items) and the food seemed like it was prepared in advance and reheated. My burger and fries was dreadful, but the beef stew was really good. It helps to be hungry when you go in to eat :-) The general store was awesome - everything you need to stock up, get supplies for a picnic lunch or whatever. Spent a lot of time driving around the area (we day-tripped to Zion twice) and this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: The double King rooms in the Deer Lodge are one of the lesser expensive room types and HUGE.

Thank you for your review! I'm glad to read that you liked your room and your stay with us. Sorry to hear that you didn't like all of your meals, we do try to provide quality food at the Cowboy Steakhouse and I will pass those comments along. Sounds like we got it right with the stew, though.

The General Store is definitely well-stocked with everything from books on the area to jewelry, from shirts to groceries.

We appreciate your comments and hope to have you visit again! If we can be of assistance in the future, please contact us at 435-834-5341.

We stayed here for one night, arriving on a Friday. The hotel room was clean and everything functioned like we wanted. We had room enough for our two large suitcases. We had a nice late afternoon sunshine, in the Elk lodge. So I could sit outside with my glass of wine for a while, looking out across the snowy fields. The WiFi connection worked like we hoped it would. We had lunch and dinner in the restaurant. Contrary to the reviews we had read before, we appreciated both lunch and dinner. On Friday night a lot of weekenders came to have dinner at 7.30 pm. We were lucky to be served at 6.30 pm already. We enjoyed our stay here by much!

Thank you for your kind review! I'm pleased you had a good time with us and enjoyed the Cowboy Steakhouse. It really is beautiful here during the winter months and the snow provides a unique contrast with the colors of the area.

I rate the restaurant as good but this was not an option on the star rating. This is really the only local place to dine near Bryce Canyon in winter I was told by a Bryce Canyon park ranger and staff at the visitor centre. They were right. Even Subway was closed.

That said, the food was actually okay so ignore any bad reviews. I was plesantly surprised.
The waiters and waitresses were nice but a couple of them came across as not really enthused to be serving people. I guess it can get slow this time of year and they were perhaps bored. They were very efficient with our order.

Stayed last weekend for two nights and was really happy with the hotel. It has just about everything you can think of available, even in the winter months. We were surprised at the large general store, which has everything from souvenirs to sporting goods. A convenience store for coffee, snacks and beer. There is an on site restaurant. (we didn't actually eat at the restaurant but it was open and available) A small but fairly well stocked liquor/wine store in the hotel lobby, which is amazing in Utah.

The hotel property itself is huge with several large buildings spread out all over the place. OUr room looked great and was in good repair. We had a microwave and refrigerator as well which was nice. Free WIFI that didn't require a bunch of steps to connect to and seemed to work pretty well. The maid service was great and everything was kept clean and tidy.

Location couldn't be better actually. Just about a mile outside the entrance to Bryce Canyon so it was very easy to go back and forth from hikes and the room. In general it was just a really nice place to stay for the weekend. I'll bet its really busy in the summer though. Hotel pool was very clean and had everything laid out pretty well with a couple of chairs and bathrooms very close. It's indoors and heated well.

Overall, we will probably go back and stay at Ruby's. It really was a good experience for us and we would like to take another weekend trip in warmer weather to catch some of the hiking we missed.

Room Tip: All the buildings seemed pretty much the same although the main building would be nice as its where...
