“Need to Hoover better.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

We were there for our road trip and were upgraded to a larger suite. Resort was at low season and we had the pool area to ourselves. Our baby happened to find someone's toenail on the floor in the suite which was totally gross. They quickly sent someone to Hoover the floor but in my eyes too late. Service however was above par.

We just got home a few days ago from Spring Break and this is my review...

Pros and Cons - Cons first...

Cons: My whole family had to endure 1-2 days of altitude sickness. We have 3 kids and all suffered terrible headaches. The Advil I gave them didn't seem to work at all. My 9 yr daughter vomited 6 times. On our first night as my kids slept, I saw faces that had pain frowns on all night. I know that because I was up all night due to the terrible splitting headache. I drank gallons and took rapid deep breaths but it did not help. Motrin did not help either. I only wished someone had warned us so I could do some research about that before we went there. Even though pain killers didn't really work, bring some Advil or Motrin anyway and up the dosage a little. That might have done the trick - maybe.

Having mentioned the very important discomfort, once we got through the 2nd day, it was great.

Pros:
We had a lot of fun there inner tubing (3 very young kids) and sledding. The staff were friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable, only $15/2hrs for tubing. We were very fortunate as it snowed hard on the 2nd and 3rd day so we got to play in soft powder snow. Best thing: it is not crowded at all. Just enough people around so there was nice interaction, but you mostly see views and untouched snow. It was beautiful perfect!

We are Starwood Resort owners (Westin) so this place cannot be compared with it. There is no free wifi (why?) and you have to pay to do your laundry outside your room. Thank goodness we did not have to pay for parking too. The TV is sort of small, but it was adequate. The dishes were a little dirty stacked in the cabinets and the full kitchen was really small. Otherwise, the room space is nice and everything else is clean. Shampoo/Conditioner is stinky so consider bringing your own.

Overall, we like this resort mainly because we had fun. We would go back again but have figure out what to do about the altitude sickness first.

We stayed 5 nights in a 1-bedroom during spring break in early April with family. Purpose of staying in Brian Head was its location between our main purpose for visiting the area: Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park, both about 1.5 hours away. We own Diamond Resort timeshare so decided to stay here as a launch point. That time of year was still ski season and it could still snow. We ended up hanging around Brian Head for 2 days because of snowy roads.

Getting there requires a car. Limited grocery stores and restaurants in town. Biggest town is Cedar City about 30-40 minutes away but you can get anything there (i.e. Wal-Mart Supercenter).

Likes
* Access to skiing and tubing (although we did not go for that purpose)
* Nice view from bedroom
* Laptop size in room safe
* Price point was reasonable
* Room and carpet were clean and quiet
* Free parking
* Great 3G cell signal in room (at least for Verizon)
* Main building has 3 restaurants, coffee shop, pool, spa, gift shop/sundry store
* No timeshare sales at check-in

Neutral
* No laundry in the room. Coin operated washer/dryer on another floor
* Fireplace in bedroom although made room too hot so had to open window
* Jacuzzi tub/shower combination but raised so could be hard for some to climb in
* TV in living room and bedroom but no HD signal
* Laminate countertops in kitchen and bathroom
* Bathroom sink was very low
* Bed was a little too soft for me but not a deal breaker

Dislikes
* Accommodation was a bit small
* Very small kitchenette had apartment-size refrigerator, 2 burners, no oven, not even dish drain when washing dishes by hand
* No windows in living room so needed to turn on every light
* All Diamond Resorts contracts with AT&T to offer mediocre (before 6:30 am) to super slow (any other time) Wi-Fi ($10/day, $30/week per device!). Free WiFi in lobby of main building but inconvenient, especially if you are staying in one of the other buildings.

Things to Do
Skiing is the main recreation here. Take day trips to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. Each can be done in a day, unless you are an avid hiker. Cedar Breaks National Monument is very close by but does not open until May.

Summary
Place was fine but not extraordinary. This place is located at 9800-ft elevation, so take care of high altitude effects. Drink lots of water and not over-exert yourself. Would have given 4 stars except for the small kitchenette and SLOW internet.

Room Tip: Get one in main lodge, if available

I highly recommend this place for a weekend get-away. The place was very clean and comfortable. We stayed 2 nights in a small Jr King Villa which had a large bathroom and a gas fireplace and a beautiful view. This is a very nice facility with several resturants, indoor pool, steam room, two large hot tubs and a sauna. One small complaint is that the one of the hot tubs was scalding hot. We brought our own food for Breakfast and Lunch but had dinner at the steak house. The food was avearge, make sure they're clear on how you like your steak. I ordered mine medium rare and it came out medium well. The garlic mash potatoes were amazing though. We deicded to eat breakfast the morning we checked out and I have to say, it was better than the dinner; portions were enormous and very good. A side note is that the ski lifts are basically in the parking lot of the resort. Overall I had a great stay with Cedar Breaks Lodge. I'm not sure what the other more expensive resorts offer but this place was very nice.

Comfortable bed, great location for skiing, nice room with kitchen. Service in the restaraunts and bar was excellent. Only downfall was the number of under 12 year old kids in the pool and jacuzzi area (which is a very nice area) during the middle of a school week.

We had an initial SNAFU with the room we reserved. A leak from the outside had allowed melting snow to inrude into the bedroom. The staff was more than helpful in working things out and moved us to a better room for the same rate once they determined the problem was not repairable soon enough.

The property is really close to the base of the mountain and the rooms are actually very nice for the price point. The gym and pool were a great add and again surprised me by the quality given the price point.

Definitely a place to come back and stay again.

We rented a two bedroom appartment on our way to Bryce Canyon. The appartment was in a separate building. It was nicely decorated and bedrooms and bathrooms were very nice. Only downside was that there was no window in the livingroom area and kitchen. You had to pay for wifi(!), but we were not able to get connected.
The pool is really nice. We cooked our own meal and bought some groceries across the street. One of us became ill due to the altitude.
I think in Wintertime it is a very nice hotel to stay.
