“Beautiful area~”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

It was raining but looked like a wonderful place for another visit. There were many couples wading and hiking around the area. The water was so clear!

“Beautiful location, go on a week day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

Nice place to cool off on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, there are no staff preventing people from jumping from high rocks into the "well," which is dangerous and also prevents anyone but jumpers to swim in the nicest part of Jacob's Well. A staff member told us jumping is supposedly not allowed, but there's no enforcement.

We had a nice free tour with a volunteer naturalist who explained the history and geology of the area. Hays County has done a good job administering the site since taking it over from private ownership. It's good to see the trailers and condos being torn down and removed.

“Jump in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

I was impressed with this swimming spot. Is a short, but nice, hike from the parking lot to the swimming hole. Can jump from rocks into a deep hole. Fair number of people there and it is very accessible. Good for a short stop. (and free)

“Worth seeing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

Due to the low water and heat of the summer, the water was rather murky and not appealing to jump in. But the hike was fun down to the area and it is a cool site to watch kids jump off the cliffs into the well area.

“An Adventure in the making, still under construction...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

This place has potential but it is still under construction. There are no places to change and there is a bit of walk to get to the well. There are no formal steps and wooden boards to get to the well and it looks quite precarious to swim in. We did not swim although it was a nice walk and area to look at. The area itself is quite small and there were a lot of college age people there enjoying themselves. Not recommended for those with small children or looking for a formal place to swim in.
