“Hampton Inn Disaster”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2007

We planned a business retreat and housing at this location and it was the worst experience in recorded history. We called several weeks in advance and reserved 5 rooms with the request that we have early checkin for our guests. We were given a good rate for the rooms and a promise that early checkin would not be a problem. On the first day, we were told that early checkin was not possible because of the maid service. We were told also that the hotel was booked which was another reason that early checkin was not possible. However, the phone rang and right in front of us, the clerk told the caller that rooms were available. There was no offer to accomodate our guests luggage for the wait. The rooms were paid for in advance and yet, the desk took our guests credit cards and in one case, charged the room. We were clear that all charges were on the pre-authorized credit card and yet when the mistake was pointed out the guest was told it would take 3 days to correct. Our final bill did not reflect the stated rate - the rooms were not clean, the staff indifferent, and the overall experience of staying at this property so unpleasant that it should be avoided by other travelers.

Flying in from overseas a few days prior to our cruise out of Galveston we stayed here because it was almost halfway between Bush International and Galveston and being close to NASA.

We arrived late ábout 10:30pm and we were suprised. It was easy to find close to I 45 but not loud It was great.

Our room a 2 bed non smoking suite was clean and well organized. It had a full fridge, stove, dishwasher and microwave. We were ther 4 days and our room was always clean including the dishes we left.

Breakfast was ok convienice products but you get what you pay for and you are not hungry.

High speed Internet was free and if you don't have your laptop then the business center is also available

The only thing we found lacking were the missing room safes (have apparently been ordered) still travelling with cash, jewelery and a whole lot of documents made that a little uncomfortable. The hotel did put our stuff in the main safe but we always felt like we were being a bother especially when there were lots of other guests at the desk.

If you are in the aera have a look at the NASA Level 9 Tour - it is fantastic - not cheap but worth it.......The 70 USD gives you 2 days of entry but the firt day with the guides is fabulous.

This hotel is located about a 10 minute drive away from NASA. Overall location is very convenient because there are a variety of businesses and restaurants in the vicinity. We rented a family suite with two beds in one room and a rollaway / kitchenette in the "living" room. The room was nice with the exception of the television which did not seem to include any cable channels. Reception of the "free" channels was poor. As is expected from an Hampton, the bedding is very comfortable.

The room stay does include a "hot" breakfast, which is basically scrambled eggs and ham, pastries, cereals, juices, etc. Overally, I would consider this to be closer to a continental breakfast.

All in all, this was a positive experience. However, I have definitely stayed in better Hampton Inns as far as the overall room and breakfast quality levels are concerned.

The Hampton Inn & Suites was a great family hotel for our "quick trip" to the Houston area.

We wanted a place somewhere between Houston and Galveston so we could enjoy both locations during our 4 day trip. Traveling with a preschooler and a preteen is difficult enough, but Hampton gave us plenty of room to spread out.

We stayed in a King Suite and it was well worth the few extra dollars a night. We had a full size refridgerator/freezer, dishwasher, cooktop, and microwave. The appliances and dishes were all clean and in working order. The bedding on the king bed was clean, soft, and far better than many other hotels we've visited. The kids slept on the sleeper sofa, which they both say was very comfortable.

The staff was very helpful when I asked for directions to a grocery store at 10pm. They actually gave me directions to a few different places so I could decide for myself where I wanted to go.

The pool was clean and large. It was never crowded...even when the hotel was completely booked.

On the down size, the breakfast could have been better. My husband didn't care for the "chewy" eggs or dry sausage. But the kids and I enjoyed the choices of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, and breads. Definately not a cooked to order breakfast, but at least everyone was able to find something to eat.

We would stay here again just for their proximity to NASA, Kemah Boardwalk, the museums, and the beach.

What a delight it was to stay at this hotel. We have stayed here 2 times before on our way to our cruise out of Galveston and have always liked our accommodations...but this time it was above the mark! The hotel has new bedding - white fluffy comforters and great pillows. I have stayed in 5 star resorts that didn't have bedding this nice. This hotel is exceptionally clean, has a nice pool and spa, and a continental breakfast with many offerings. They even offer "to go" bags with bottled water, fruit etc at the check out desk for those who didn't make it down to breakfast or are in a hurry to get on the road.

The hotel is just off I45 south of Houston. We like it's proximity to many eating places, shopping for last minute items and the Kemah Boardwalk - not to mention NASA is just a few minutes down the road.

This hotel is not pricey, but such a great value! We will most definitely continue to make this our regular stop. This hotel goes the extra mile and this family appreciates that!
