“LaQuinta Victoria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2012

This is one of the friendliest hotels in the area in and around Victoria, TX. I am disappointed when I don't plan early enough to be able to stay here, and you do need to do that, because the Inn is ALWAYS full. Lots of reasons for that.. the staff is great!

This older La Quinta property is past its prime. The oil and gas boom is keeping it full which may also mean they won't take rooms out of service for repair and don't feel the need to. The service was friendly but slow, slow, and slow. The rooms, towels, linens, air conditioning all need improvement. It's adequate if you don't look, smell, or listen too closely. It was not clear how much cleaning is done beyond a vacuum although public areas were worn but fairly neat. With a little bit of attention it wasn't hard to find surfaces that haven't seen cleaning in a long time. Our ac filter was laying on the room floor and the bathroom vents had been plugged up with toilet paper for reasons unknown. Really the only bright side of the two night stay was the fact that despite exterior corridors and a packed house, our room which was towards the interior courtyard was insulated from outside noise.

The front desk service was excellent.... The room had many issues, sagging bed, flickering vanity light, major noise due the the highway traffic, issues with the ac/heat. will not stay there again.

I stayed at the La Quinta Inn Victoria for business. As a professional road-warrior, I typically frequent Holiday Inn Expresses and Hampton Inns for consistency. Unfortunately, lodging choices were scarce as a result of local oil and gas drilling activities. In lack of better words, this is a hotel of last resort. LQ advertises that they have hundreds of new and newly renovated properties, this is DEFINITELY NOT one of them!!

This is a old motel in a decent area of town. All exterior corridors, no elevators, and the stairway is exposed to the elements. The lock was not operable with the first room I was given. The front desk staff said that they've been having problems with that door lock and that I will have to ask to be let into my room every time. Since I declined and asked for another room, I ended up settling for a smoking room on the second floor. The stale cigarette smoke smell was overwhelming, and cigarette burns were evident in several places in the room. In addition, there were mildew in the shower. I could also see light shining through between the door and the door jam. The only three things I can readily tell that did not come with the original building is the TV, the shower curtain, and the mattress (thank goodness).

Breakfast was pretty skimmpy (all cold stuff). The packaged muffins were not edible because they appeared refrigerated and were hard as a rock. It's well worth getting up a little to hit Denny's next door.
