“Absolutely fabulous place along a beautiful lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2012

We stayed in the Gallery with two families (4 adults, 2 kids under 5).The main portion of the house is 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bath with plenty of space and all the amenities you could need. The house is in excellent condition with central air throughout the main floor. There is a large screened in porch with ceiling fans along the back side of the house and has views over the garden. The upstairs (The Rookery) had 6 beds, a window unit, and another bathroom and a small kitchenette. We didn't use the upstairs, but we know in the future we'll come back with other families and their kids and take advantage of the whole place.

The place was very clean and had everything you could need. All the kitchen utensils, plates, lines, towels, bath items, books, TV, etc. There is a nice charcoal grill outside and a picnic bench where we ate dinner one night. There was nothing lacking. All of the outdoor amenities were excellent too. We took the little girls out on their first boat ride in one of the row boats that the owners have for the guests use. They had everything we needed from the life jackets to the oars. It was a great experience for them and us.

Dottie and Bill were wonderful too. They are so friendly and really do care about their guests. Even us crazy folk from the city. Since the Gallery is not on the lake side of the road, you can use the pier that is behind Dottie and Bill's house. They did not mind us going back and forth between the house and the pier. There is even a neat treehouse on the pier which was fun to climb.

It was a wonderful chance for us to get away and have a relaxing weekend in touch with nature. We will definitely be back.

Thanks Spatterdock. This trip is always very special for us. I can't wait to get back to beautiful Caddo lake. Cruising around here on a kayak or canoe is one of my favorite things to do.

Howdy All,

My Wife and I spent two wonderful nights at the Water Lily in Uncertain, Texas. The Water Lily
along with 4-5 other Guest Houses are owned by Dottie and Billy Carter who are long time Residents of Uncertain.

Both Dottie and Billy were so friendly and personable, they treated us like old friends.
Dottie responded quickly to every email and question, which is a refreshing change to some places. They also offered us the Use of Bicycles, Canoes, and Kayaks, but we were just into "Relaxing"<G>

The Water Lily was just a hidden Gem, you have to wind and weave through some other properties, then all of a sudden you are in front of the quaint little Cottage. It was very nicely decorated outside with various pieces of art and sculpture. The Cottage itself was very comfortable, with a nice Wood burning Stove, full size fridge, range, microwave, a small TV, and wonderful screened porch in the back. The Real Treat and what we loved most was the great "Catwalk" almost 350+ feet long, leading to another small screened Room, then on to the end of it with a small dock area over looking an open waterway. The property on each side is all woods and brush, so you have a private and personal area there.

At the time we were there the water level was really low due to the Summer Drought, but it was stunningly beautiful, regardless. Dottie had informed us of the water level before our stay there, but to us it had an interesting charm with the small open channels where the Beavers and Nutra had their little routes. We loved sitting out on the dock and just couldn't stay away from being out there.

We also went to the near by Caddo Lake State Park, rode on the Graceful Ghost Steamboat, and also had a wonderful personal Guided Tour of Caddo Lake,

We really enjoyed our very relaxing visit at the Water Lily and have already talked of going back soon. This is just such a terrific area and a very unique location.

Kindest Regards,

Craig and Karen
