“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

This resort appears to be getting a little "long in the tooth" ... rooms are basic, without safe, without mini-frig. They are undergoing parking lot construction, so the walk to the room from the available parking lot is quite a haul. They offer valet parking, but only until 11pm. So if you return to your room after 11, you're walking in the dark. Security was concerning. Returning to our building after midnight only to find the building still open and no key card needed to enter.

Room Tip: Before you book, ask if the parking construction is completed. Or, wear walking shoes.

Ed77077,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and others. I am sorry to hear that your stay was not what you expected. We have taken our guests comments regarding our rooms into account and are currently undergoing a $60 million renovation which began in April, 2013. The renovation will include 184 new guestrooms, the refurbishment of our Fairway Pines complex, the addition of a 1,000 foot lazy river and a steakhouse. With that exciting news comes the challenges that are inevitable with a renovation. We are making every effort to cause minimal inconvenience to our guests. I will share your feedback regarding arriving late to the hotel with our guest services department to see how we might improve. In addition, I have shared your concerns regarding security with the Director of Security so that the issue you mentioned may be addressed.

We offer complimentary microwaves and refrigerators to our guests upon request and I am sorry to hear you were not made aware of that service. In addition we offer safety deposit boxes conveniently located near the front desk as well. Again, I am sorry these services were not offered to you.

Thank you again for making us aware of the issues you experienced. I hope that once the renovations are complete, you will give us the opportunity to earn your business back. Please contact me directly at jasmine.avery@woodlandsresort.com so that we might address your concerns.

Sincerely,
Jasmine

Took my family for a quick Memorial Day weekend getaway. I have 2 kids who enjoyed themselves at the pool all day! The pool area has lots of activities on the weekend and even though it was pretty crowded for Memorial Day there was still lots of fun and room for everyone. Nice poolside service and s'mores in the evening. this hotel is like most resorts in that if you wat a good seat by the pool you better claim it with towels, magazines very early in the morning. Breakfast Buffett good. Standard fare. Rooms need some updating so I am looking forward to the new renovations. Service good and they were nice enough to give me a late checkout of 3 pm on Sunday because my husband was playing golf. He really enjoyed the golf course. Will come back given the close proximity to Houston. Do feel like the rooms are a little overpriced with the updates needed.

Very nice hotel. Friendly staff, quiet rooms, several beautiful swimming pools and yummy restaurants. My hubby and I and 2 kids stayed here for a week. If you are into golf they have amazing golf courses.
Room was plenty large enough for our whole family. My kids loved the geese and ducks walking around everywhere. I loved that the balcony overlooked woods ...I watched a raccoon family climb a tree about 10 ft away. It was nicer to be private instead of on a major hwy with traffic and businesses and noise everywhere.

What a nice surprise! This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a staff who definitely has been well trained in service excellence. If you are of middle age and do not have children with you, stay on the Forest Lake side of the resort-this is away from the VERY active family pool. If you have children, they will be well entertained on the other side. The Forest Lake rooms are older, but are very large. The bathrooms could use some updating-very small, but everything was very clean including the furniture and carpet, although a little worn. Our air conditioning was not good at controlling the humidity and we did have an unwelcome visit from a roach(next day saw the exterminators- and it is the Woodlands) and some aggressive geese(not afraid, so don't even try to scare them off-it just makes them mad!) The family pool has great slides, volleyball, basketball, and a large shallow area. Behind this pool is another one, nothing fancy but just as active. There are 2 bars and a snack bar. On Memorial Day weekend, this part of the resort bustled with activity-a face painter, a balloon animal artist, karioke, games, free snowcones, just a wonderland for kids. We only went to grab a drink-VERY good frozen drinks for a reasonable $7.00. They even make their own pina colada mix. We then ran back to our quiet section and the Forest Lake pool and jacuzzi-no one there! Another option for swimming is the pool right behind the restaurant, always deserted. We rented bicycles for the day for just $5.00 and rode into Market Center, then rode them to the Koi Pond and to the kayak rental place, where they said they would watch our bikes while we rowed. It was great! One of the nicest things is that we parked our car and never touched it again-the shuttle will take you into the town center or the mall-it leaves on the hour on request and until about 9:15pm. The breakfast buffet was incredible and with our package was just $10.00. There was everything from eggs benedict, to waffles, custom omelets, homemade biscuits and almond croissants, wide variety of cereal and delicious fresh fruit. There is complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby. The service here is top notch-golf carts to take you around and when you call, they are there lightning fast-everyone was helpful, offering maps, ice cold water, advice and reservations for restaurants. Finally, parking is free and the fitness center is excellent. This is a great resort and we will be back as soon as possible.

Room Tip: Forest Lake side if you want quiet and a bit of seclusion.

10 of us just spent a long weekend at this resort. We had 4 rooms looking out to the pool area. All of our rooms were on the ground level. This is the 2nd time we have stayed as a family. The 2 pools are great, however they are not heated. They provide towels, and plenty of lounge chairs at pool side. They have a splash pad & small wading pool for little 1's, there is a water slide & a whirlpool. During the day they come around with frozen grapes, they also came around asking the children to join in the poolside games. They brought out a snowcone machine which was a hit. The rooms are normal hotel rooms, 2 double beds. The hotel amenties are from Bath and Body Works. There is bar and food service at the poolside. The buffet breakfast in the AM is great. It would not be a place for couples, as there were a lot of kids. Our family would stay there again, without question.

Room Tip: Choose a ground level room for easy access to the poolside.
