“Beautiful and relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

On a recent visit to Houston we'd thought we'd take a detour the first night and look for a spa/hotel for some R&R. After much searching we discounted anything in Houston and settled on The Woodlands only 30 mi north of Houston and short drive from IAH (Bush airport). Driving in we marveled at the truly "wooded" setting, lush like a park. The hotel is older but very nice, more like a golf resort and conference center but perfect for our needs. The spa was delightful with an attentive staff, hotel staff the same. We had a wonderful Sunday brunch, delicious and excellent value. It exceeded our expectations. Although the buildings were built in '70's lack some styling the room was large and nicely appointed. No complaints at all. There were many pools, we can see it is a great place for a family stay as well. We will definitely come back for a "quiet" stay. Nearby is the Woodlands Waterway in the town that is also worth visiting. That was an amazing surprise, very impressed with this hotel and community.

Room Tip: Many of the rooms are separate "cottages" with several rooms to a cottage. Any are nice, e...

We came to The Woodlands for a show and had heard about this place from a friend. I went earlier in the week and spoke with Sarah the Concierge and she ask how could they make our celebration special. Sarah put a lovely fruit plate and bottle of wine. The room was really nice. It had a very upscale cabin feel. I absolutely would stay here again!

Loved the atmosphere of this hotel. Great pools and an ABSOLUTLY amazing spa. Ashley in the spa was very sweet and helpful as none of the people in my party had ever been to a spa of this type. I wish I could go to the steam room everyday. The grill had a view of the driving range and all of the staff there way awesome. Very polite. We were there on a sunday so we were not able to take advantage of their awesome happy hour specials but we will be returning to do so. All in all this hotel provided a great experience. The only thing that I would like to see is an update of the rooms. They are very nice and super clean but a little dated.

Thanks for an awesome stay!!

As a person whose job makes it difficult to get away I found this resort to be at the top of my list and should be at the top of many lists. For those who need to hold a meeting, for those who need to celebrate an occasion, for those who want a nature weeding, anniversary, special birthday, to propose, to save expensive airfare to get away, to those who would like a reunion, for those who would like great dining, taking in some holiday shopping, a movie climb on board the trolley, the gondola, eat at world restaurants, shop at boutiques, malls, hike on trails, kayak at the boat house, walk the trail of bronze statues, swim in crystal waters, walk around the grounds, sit on your patio or balcony, take in an event at the Cynthia Mitchell Pavilion, attend the symphony well you get the picture. I Purchased a book listing photos and descriptions of unique hotels. I had stayed at many of them. This vacation house needs to be in that book, For Greater Houstonians or Texans this is a short drive to a "Cottage in the Woods" with a walk on the Urban Side. Don't miss this gem! Oh the spa is fabulous and I urge you to go for the gold with the facial that costs the most. It is worth every penny! Oh yeah there is golf too.

Room Tip: I loved the room by the lake. All the rooms are surrounded by spacious green forested grounds where...

We have been visiting the Woodlands for years and finally tried the Woodlands Resort. We can't say enough good things about our experience there. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The staff went out of there way to accommodate us and the food, both at the restaurant and room service, was delicious. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. We also had an opportunity to experience the spa and it was equally a great experience. We highly recommend this resort.

The resort is ok. The room is ok. The staff needs to try to work harder instead of talking and texting to each other. The grounds need to be kept up better, broken ironing board left out for three days and trash not picked up for three days.

There is something for everyone at this very special resort! The pool with double waterslides are faster than one might anticipate. We have traveled some distance for half the fun especially since at these there was NO WAIT!! With golfing and shopping nearby not to mention world class concert availability--what's not to love! We will come back often!!

Only negatives might be the underwhelming views from some of the condo-like rooms which are situated a good hike away from amenities. Also these room tend to be a bit more dated than what you might expect. But it didn't cramp our style too much-- we still managed a very good time! Breakfast buffet ran $45/2 people. We wanted to eat outside and it was not especially clean but the service even outside was acceptable.
