“Great new spot for food & relaxation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

Kona Grill has tossed in a nice calming ambiance for the busy Woodlands pace complete with a menu selection so varied that anyone to everyone can be pleased. We chose it for a birthday dinner and very pleased as the evening was perfect. Started with several starters including a delicious sushi that we have to try again. Several at the table had sea bass which was flaky and flavorful. Also tried the small filet which was served with an excellent corn side packed with fused flavors. Dessert was a fabulous butter cake that was quite unique. Shawn, our waiter, was attentive and a total pro. He told us about the Happy Hour specials and we will be back. Don't forget to have your parking stub validated at the restaurant - parking can be a problem so try the garage next to the restaurant.

“Happy @ Friday Happy Hour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

Great happy hour, with sushi rolls and drinks at Kona Grill in The Woodlands. Comfortable and attractive environment. Attentive and friendly service (thanks, Alesha!). Fresh and flavorful sushi. Excellent value. Perfect way to end the week. Would have been most excellent if it had not been so hard to eat lettuce wraps with the "bean" tables. Next visit, skipping the wraps.

“Great vibe, excellent service!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

My husband and I had been wanting to try out the newish Kona Grill, so we made a reservation and went last night. It was a beautiful evening and the outside was busy, we did not see any tables available, and the patio is "seat yourself". There is no parking directly around, but they do offer free valet parking which is nice, we were also told they would validate in any parking structure nearby. We just parked a few blocks away and walked to enjoy the night air. We were fine with inside as we had wanted to see the decor and enjoy an indoor meal. The atmosphere is very upscale, all dark colors and metals, with a very modern look. On one side a bar curves around and there is a huge fish tank that adds a nice touch and is fun to watch the fish, plus a waterwall behind the bar.
We are seated quickly and the restaurant is not over run but pleasantly busy. Our waiter appears quickly to take our drink orders and I inquire after a Gluten free menu which he promptly brings to the table. There are two sides and a good amount of choices, one being sushi (which I enjoy) but usually can't have unless I bring along my Little Soya "fishies" which are GF portable soy in individual amount. But our server informs us that they have GF soy, making our decision to get some sushi rolls a yes!! As it is half off bottle of wine Wednesday, we opt for a bottle to share and an appetizer of Angry Edamame, which I must say were quite "angry"!! Good, but they were hot!
We order a few choices if sushi and as it is getting busier there is a small wait, but our waiter does check back a few times, and we are not in a hurry, so we happily pass the time. The sushi rolls arrive and they are very good, in fact we eat them all!! They taste fresh, and my only complaint would be they are served with the tiniest amount of ginger and wasabi I've ever seen, but we work with this and enjoy. Our waiter is very friendly and helpful, he brings chopsticks and when I inform him I am "chopstick impaired" he runs to the kitchen and comes back with "helper" aids that attach and enable me to eat with them with ease. I'm sure these are for children but it is a fun thing and we laugh!! Another item that is brought is a small dish with a tiny what looks like a sponge for each of us. With it come very hot water and we are told when we are done and need to wipe our fingers we should pour the water onto the sponge, which really becomes a small moistened towel. I can imagine children enjoying this but it gave me much pleasure also!! After our meal our manager came over and chatted for a while to make sure we enjoyed our meal. And since we did, we will be back!!

“Loved it!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

What a nice surprise! From the moment we arrived the valet was complimentary. The hostesses were really nice giving us all the scoop on happy hour for next time, where to sit and then as we waiting Karla was awesome! She gave great suggestions and made the 20 min wait fly by. As the food arrived, our daughter was so shocked that her kids meal came with a bear made of fruit-she loved it! My son and I shared the Hawaiian ribeye (14 oz) that was finger lickin good. Everything we tried was delicious. The atmosphere was both date night and family friendly! We can't wait to try "happy hour" next time where many appetizers are 50% off and lots of drink specials!

“Great New Restaurant in The Woodlands”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

Food, service, ambiance are all great at this new eating establishment in The Woodlands. The only downside is the location. Being on the Waterway would earn it an Excellent rating from us. We understand they are probably catering to the lunch crowd from the new office buildings in the area. Can't really blame them for that. Otherwise, we'd recommend Kona Grill in The Woodlands. Considering it was our wait person's first week on the job, she did an excellent job taking care of us. She was a little unsure of ordering options (off the menu) but that can be overlooked.
