I've been to Krause Springs twice and had two different experiences, although I enjoyed both times. The first time I went, (midweek) there were hardly any people there and we had most of it to ourselves. There were a few families swimming and relaxing. The other time was a Friday and it was packed. We still found a place in the water but it was much more crowded. As we were leaving around 4pm, the college crowd was coming in with coolers and I could tell it was going to be party time soon. I don't have kids so this doesn't bother me, but I could see it becoming a problem if children were around later that evening.
You are able to bring in floating devices, but I just prefer to find a place to stand in the water. On the crowded day, it got a little bothersome when people had floating loungers because they take up a lot of space. My friend brought a couple 'noodles' to help her float but she could stay in the water. It does get deep in some areas and there is a rope swing for fun. The rocks can be slippery, but I wear water shoes which helps. I read from another reviewer that smoking and cliff diving are not allowed however I did see both.
Krause is beautiful and a nice way to cool off in the Texas heat.
