“Great staff and recommended....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

Was advised to try this place out and really glad I did..Its a little more high end than I'm used too, however the welcome from the staff was charming and felt pretty comfortable within 5 minutes. Menu is pricey but the food looked great and everyone seemed well pleased within our party. Bar service / atmosphere excellent - Thank you Maria....would highly recommend for a special occasion-event.

“Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

First visit and I would definitely return. I had the jumbo Shrimp and it was excellent. My wife had the fillet and it was an excellent cut of being beef.
Prices where in line with any 5 star steak house.

“Great treat for birthdays and anniversaries”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

This is our go-to place for special occasions. Yes, it’s pricey but it’s nice treat for birthdays and anniversaries. We have never had a bad meal here; always start with the Ladybird Oysters which are outstanding and have tried both the steak entrees and the pasta entrees and all have been delicious. After splitting the oysters as an appetizer between two of us and eating the salads, we usually can’t finish the dinners and the wait staff always boxes the leftovers for us nicely (actually take the plates away and box, don’t just toss a box on the table for you to scrape the plate like some restaurants). Recommend you look at the menu with the specials of the day as they tend to include more sides than the standard menu entrees.

We always request a booth in a specific area when we make reservations and we have always been seated exactly where we requested. We’ve been going here three times a year for four years, and except for one time, the service has been great and professional. The one time, there was a kitchen mix up and our entrees were severely delayed; that was bad news and we unfortunately filled up on bread before they arrived. The good news was that as soon as the error was realized the manager was at our table apologizing profusely and he then took the cost of the entrees off the final bill which we really appreciated as great customer service.

Sunday is half-price wine (bottles under $200) and it is a nice treat to be able to afford a little nicer wine. They are wonderful about birthdays and anniversaries and always treat you to a lovely dessert and card. Thankfully, the Grapevine Connector Construction project is almost complete so there is now easy access into their parking lot.

“Kirby's hits the balance just right”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

In Texas, there is no shortage of steak places to pick from, and most of them are disappointingly forgettable. Many serve entrees that your basic house-husband with a propane oven could prepare. Others have an odd ambiance that breaks the boundaries of what should qualify as sort-of-fine-dining for the prices they charge.

Kirby's absolutely hits the sweet spot all the way around, and is the recommendation to make when looking for a steak joint in the area. The ambiance bends just enough to let a casual diner in the door without cheapening the place. The staff are proper and attentive, and give you just the right amount of attention without being overbearing. The menu covers the bases, inclusive of a few interesting entrée specials on a nightly basis.

And then there's the wine list, which is a real treat with very, very fair prices. Hats off to whomever buys wine for the restaurant, as they have terrific taste. Inclusion of selections from Orin Swift and the Dave Phinney Locations series are a welcome sight. It's not often that you see a dozen petit sirahs to pick from, either.

Side orders are not to be overlooked. The risotto was prepared to perfection, and was enough to even serve as a clever appetizer.

Dessert selections are ample enough to satisfy most. The per-glass selections of after-dinner wine could be improved upon by including a reasonably-priced glass of Inniskillin ice wine.

I can't say enough about how Kirby's seems to ward off the riff raff in flip flops. I'm a big believer that going out for dinner should be a special experience, that does not necessarily require a black tie, but should also not include a Jimmy Buffett tour shirt (which some local steak joints gladly permit).

Go, have a good time, enjoy a very memorable glass of wine and have a memorable meal. Five stars to Kirby's!

“Did not meet expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Althoughbthe place was nice and the staff was very gogos, the food was not as good as it should have been for a restaurant of this caliber. We both had fish, the sea bass and the salmon, and both were significantly overlooked. The risotto tasted as if it had been made earlier, then reheated. The aux gratin potatoes were good though.
