“Great for rabbits with money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

It was ok. The price was high for the quality and quantity of food. I do not think that I honestly could recommend this place to my friends. The food was better than normal, but in such small amounts that it was disappointed. I understand they have to pay for overhead and maintenance, but the markup is too much. I guess I go out to eat to eat, not because the place is “cool” or makes me feel “good”. I can stay home for that.

“Good Mexican in a contemporary setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

Taco Dinner (there are many throughout Dallas/Fort Worth) is part of the "M" Group which also owns Mi Cocina. TD Southlake is on the other side of the Town Center and far enough away from its sibling (Mi Cocina) that it draws its own crowd.

After what seems like several years, TD has expanded their menu. The empanada appetizer is good, and they now offer breakfast items all day. My favorites include the Enchiladas Verdes or the Tostadas Compuestas.

Some may not like TD's contemporary interior, but it works just fine and is in line with other TD's, There is a small patio that looks out onto the side street and the valet parking for Truluck's (sort of like watching an expensive car lot, considering the conspicuous consumption that is Southlake).

TD has upped their game and is not the "same ol' Tex-Mex". If you haven't been lately, it is worth a return trip. Thursday's are "Mambo Taxi" night, so expect a crowd.

“Inconsistent”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

I've been to Taco Diner about a half dozen times over the last year to different locations around DFW. You cannot count on any consistency here. Service is usually good but food quality can vary from excellent to something approaching disgusting. This was my second visit to the Southlake location in about as many months. The first was excellent but yesterday's lunch was nearly inedible. In fact I am quite sure I had better Patio Mexican dinners as a child. Its really disappointing because they are owned/operated by MCrowd which also operations the Mi Concina chain. I've never had problems with those outlets. A better choice would be Mi Concina, Gloria's, or Blue Mesa. Forget Taco Diner unless you want to pop in for the $4 Mambo Taxi margaritas on Thursdays.

“Good option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

I was invited by a co-worker for lunch. This was my first visit. At first, I was a little wary. The atomosphere is a little, let's say ecletic and sterile. I had the Tacos “de Brisket” which turned out to be a good choice. The portions were average but the taste was very good and the service was fine.

“Very average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

I arrived at the hotel and wanted to have some tex-mex, but didn't want to go too far. Food was delivered to the table very quickly and looked artificial. The taste was similar, proving that most of the meal was pre prepared and thrown together. Not a complete loss, a quick taste of tex-mex but there certainly is better....
