We spent 8 days here in November 2012, it was clean and the staff was very nice. We stayed on the 4th floor with a view of the beach. I would have to recommend a beach view room, you have a walk out patio. We never had any problems with noise from other guests or workers. The breakfast they serve in the mornings is actually pretty good. The toasters are very slow so put your bagel/toast in first then dish up your other food. Hot tub is nice but the pool is kinda cool. On the hot hot days I am sure no one minds that. You get drink coupons for the on site bar. And there is a conceriege for at the front entrance that will give you discounts to alot of the local attractions. All in all it was a pretty good stay for the money we paid. This was a sisters/mom trip that we took.

Room Tip: We choose 4th floor with the view of the ocean and had no problems with noise.

Rooms were not at all clean. You do NOT want to take your socks off. Walls are thin. Parking is only along the long road leading to hotel so if you don't get there early, you will be taking a long walk. If you have a lot of stuff or kids, it would not be convenient. Gym is very warm. No conditioner in bathroom (shampoo and soap only). This is definitely an older hotel that has seen better days. Cops were there when I arrived and there are certain rooms closed off due to previous investigations. Not the safest area. Elevator is very slow so if you're physically able, stairs are best bet.

Room Tip: If you are not traveling with a pet, ask to be in a room that is not next to or above someone with a...

I recommend you to stay on the third floor because it is quiet and the hotel is right on the beach. Happy hour is very good. Breakfast is good because it is in a big room, the texas shaped waffels are already made. They have cranberry sauce and wipped cream on it along with butter and syrup. House keeping were very friendly and delightful. This hotel was a decent price for its value.

Room Tip: you should stay on the third floor because it is nice and quiet.

Room was very roomy and hotel ammenities were great! Included pool, hot tub, work out room and even coupons for happy hour. One of the best parts was that they served breakfast up until 10am and you were merely steps away from the beach. Clean and nice staff as well.
The only improvement they could make is offering higher quality toiletry products...

Room Tip: Corner suites with balcony are roomy and jetted tub in room is very nice!

I was recently in South Padre for a training and stayed at La Quinta Inn on the north end of the island. I had a side room with a view of both the bay and Gulf of Mexico. I saw both the sunrise and sunset from my tiny balcony. When you get there you get a voucher for one free happy hour drink for every night you stay there and you can also get soda if you don't drink but I think some sort of minor payment is involved. They are next to Clayton's Bar and Grill with a patio allowing you to see the waves pounding the surf as you eat shrimp on the table. There are tall tables along the edge of the patio to see the ocean and there are other regular size tables for eating further in. The hotel has a walkway straight to the beach on the Gulf of Mexico side. One night there was a power outage in the hotel and the entire staff from manager to janitorial were there to lend a hand taking you and guiding you around the hotel as needed. There were emergency lights so there was lighting, but if you were not confident, they would walk with you to your location with a flashlight leading the way. They kept the first floor well swept and clean of any sandy residue from the beach. I slept with my windows open and the ocean breeze coming in and the ceiling fan circulating the air. Overall I had an enjoyable experience there.

Room Tip: To get a view of sunrise and sunsets, you want a side room. The back of the hotel has rooms for the...

Great location on the island. Room and facilities were very clean especially for a hotel located directly on the beach. Just across the street from the Birding and Turtle sanctuary. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. Much more than I bargained for. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Free internet access was convenient. Used the fitness and business centers - they were under utilized but top notch. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. First time I have been to Texas - very enjoyable.

Room Tip: If you want beach side, get the East Rooms
