“We'll be back-many times!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2012

Ever go to a place and be treated like an old friend? That's what Yummie's is like. It's warm and cozy and so friendly. Now, to the food! Based on a review I had the shrimp grits. Wow! The cajun spices mix so well with the creaminess of the grits, the whole shrimp and a hint of cheddar cheese. Everyone in our party of 6 enjoyed their selection. The excellent coffee is served in oversize cups (mugs) and you almost can't finish the cup before someone is coming to top it off.
My only regret is that we didn't find this place sooner. We will go back again and again.

“Yummies is a Destination Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2012

We lucked into Yummies for a late lunch (they close at 2). This is not a “shack” by any stretch. I had a great soup on a cold February afternoon accompanied by a nicely portioned country quiche. The baking, but not the bread, is made on premises. Everything tasted fresh and homemade without overly wrought preparation or presentation.

So we came back next day for breakfast and sat at the bar of their recent addition, which effectively doubled their space. We had had a nice chat with the owners the previous day and again during today's breakfast. Sincere people in second careers wanting only “to serve people the same way I’d like to be served.” It showed. And the place crawled with personable wait staff.

Breakfast was great and accompanied by a nice cinnamon coffee (an option). Fresh homemade salsa. Tender ham off the bone.

Yummies is a destination restaurant. We lucked into it but you should make it a point of eating here.

“The best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2012

If you are on S. Padre Island, this place is a must for breakfast or lunch. I had the huevos comida or chocina, I forget the exact name but it was fantastic! The place is immaculate and the service great, too.

“great pies”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2012

Went there for dessert...they had awesome pies. All four of us ordered something different and shared...chocolate cream, apple with caramel, key lime, and grapefruit. Still can't say which one was the best. Coffee ws great and drinks tasted like they should. Employees were soooo friendly. It was nice to see them on a first name basis with many of the customers. Everyone said hello and thanked us for coming in when we left. Well, thank you for being open.
