“A Locals Dive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2010

If you like loud music; SOME cheap drinks (tasty but weak Margueritas); lots of locals; wait staff ignoring you; and SOME decent menu items overlooking stagnant water close in but the Laguna Madre beyond with its sunsets - this is the dive for you!

“Great beach restaurant and bar atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2010

What a find, this place is not easy to find and is wonderful, great lunch specials and huge servings. Entertainment 7 nights a week, Sunday is a jam and it gets really bar like after 8:00 or so, but before that its a great beach bar and restarant kind of place, Jimmy Buffet would love this place

“Fabulous food, sunsets and entertainment!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2009

Check out the URL link I put in for food prices and detailed info. This is an outside bar and DH didn't want to go but he loved it after I got him there!
We are not late night people and the fact that the music starts at 6 p.m. appeals to us. Sunday night was great (jam night) and we enjoyed just listening to Laferty he entertaining and very talented (listen to him on their URL)
Every meal we had was great. Our friends that went with us loved the $.35 oysters and had three plates (which he shared). We wanted to try the Texas nachos but just couldn't get enough of the hot shrimp salad and blackened shrimp salad. I wish I could remember the name of the little brunette that waited on us, she was fabulous, the rest of the wait staff didn't watch our table closely enough and lost some extra sales. But I think this (if you don't mind an outside bar/restaurant) is your best bang for the buck.
As for family eating there, there were several families with young children (who were very well behaved) and they had a great time the singer Laferty joked and kidded with them it was tons of fun!
THE SUNSETS ARE GREAT!

“Good music, awesome sunset”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2009

Good music, decent food, awesome atmosphere...worth the trip for the sunset on the deck. The Captain Morgan Shrimp is their specialty, really good dish, It's around $13.00. The Shrimp Veracruz Cocktail was good but I didn't feel as though there was enough shrimp for $7.00. The live music adds a good touch, J. Michael Laferty was playing when we went..he puts on a good show. Over all it was a great visit to Palm Street, we will be sure to go back when we head South Padre again.

“Laid back beach bar and grill with great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2009

Went for the Sunday night jam and dinner. The food was great and the atmosphere is terrific. A nice change from the touristy places up and down Laguna St.
