“Welcome Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

I chose this motel on others reviews from Trip advisor. It was definitely worth the cost. The family who run this motel went out of their way to accommodate us. They have some small apartments they have made out of metal utility buildings. We had a living room, kitchen and separate bedroom with king size bed. Bathroom was very nice. It looked like it had just been completed. Very much worth the 67.85. The help yourself breakfast was very good also. Be sure to check in the fridge as they have boiled eggs ,yogurt, cream cheese for the bagels and milk in there. The bridge was out at the exit where our GPS had us get off but wasn't too hard figuring out how to get there after inquiring at Burger King.

Although no rooms were available the owner offered my husband and I one of the RVs he also rents for the same $45 as a room would cost us. The RV was very small but clean with a bed and shower which was very much appreciated.

The price for this motel was 1/3 lower than competition, so I was apprehensive about the place. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Please don't judge them by the outside appearance. Our room was very spacious, with a king and a queen bed. There was a desk(with free wifi), a table with chairs, a coffeemaker, microwave and apt. sized refrigerator, with a freezer. The TV was flat screen HD, with a wide selection of channels. Beds were very comfortable. There were several gas grills outside, and picnic tables available. The room was very clean and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was only so-so, but adequate. It was definitely a good value and I would recommend that you give it a try.

We had a flat tire after hours so we stayed in Snyder instead of going on to Carlsbad Caverns. The Purple Sage Motel was clean and quiet. The room was large and clean, as was the bathroom. We stayed toward the back of the motel and it was very quiet. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The internet signal was excellent. Great value for the price.

Our room at the Purple Sage was clean enough, but sub-standard on a number of counts. The marquis in front of the motel advertised "Interrnet access", and we had some pressing work to do online. The wi-fi signal in our room was so weak as to be unsuable, although the nervous and hyper night clerk was kind enough to let me into the office after hours to do my work. The air-conditioner was above and behind the apartent-sized fridge. requiring one to stand on a chair and reach across the fridge to adjust the room temperature. Other than these and a broken wall-mounted reading lamp, the bed was comfy and the room was otherwise OK. There are a number of motels in Snyder not listed in TripAdvisor, nor on our GPS, and one might do better at one of these.

A very unusual motel, the first motel I have been in that had a recliner, a ceiling fan, a safe in the room and a DVD player. Room 125 had a king-size bed, a very large Refrigerator (for a motel) with a decent sized freezer. The paint was chipped on the wall behind the door and the cushion of the chair for the vanity was stained but the room was clean.. The electronic door lock opened even though it blinked red so I made sure that the dead bolts were thrown. If I was going to stay there for more than one night I would make sure not to leave anything of value in the room unless it would fit in the safe. The most serious complaint I had was that the window blind let in way too much light. The owner/manager was friendly and helpful but there morning help was useless (brand new to the job, city and the country!) Breakfast was unusual too, they had biscuits and gravy. You will have to check out what else they have as the new guy did not even know that what was in the crock pot was gravy.

Room Tip: If road noise bothers you get a room toward the back, I never heard a single vehicle.

My crew and I recently stayed two weeks at the motel while doing a masonry job in Snyder. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. The rooms were very clean, the breakfast was really good and the owners were very accommodating to any of our needs. I'll be returning to Snyder to do another job later in July and I won't even check with any other hotels.
