We ate dinner at Bellino's in Rockport Texas on Thursday evening April 28th, 2011, after being given the recommendation by the clerk at The Lighthouse hotel down the street.
After reading the other reviews here on TripAdvisor, we must have visited Bellino's when the chef was out of town and an impostor was manning the kitchen. Absolutely horrible.
Our bad experience began before we entered the restaurant ... we had to park our car on the side of the road in the grass. When we entered, we waited a few moments for a table ... waiting in a dark nook trying to read the menu. Once we were seated, we were served water in plastic cups and average bread with olive oil and burnt garlic pieces. Our "garden salads" were clearly "salad in a bag" served with Kraft Italian dressing from a bottle ... probably directly from the grocery store.
We ordered Shrimp Alfredo and Veal Piccatta. The shrimp were overcooked and very rubbery, served with a glue-like "cream" sauce that was tasteless. The veal was smothered in a sticky, thick and heavy gravy ... "piccatta" should be light and flavorful. Side of spaghetti with marinara was below average ... our teenager could prepare a much tastier dinner (and has done so many times.) Our bill was $45 for two ... no wine, no dessert.
We were so disappointed in the poor food we skipped dessert and left. Don't waste your time ... get a burger from Sonic instead!
