We have been going to Alice Faye's since November of 2009. Last week, before we made our annual trek to Rockport, I went out and read reviews. I told David that perhaps we should not go here because the reviews were horrible...but we decided that we just couldn't skip it!
We arrived about 9:30am on a Wednesday morning. There was NO smoke smell when we walked in (we really notice since David has COPD and can't be around smoke at all), as a matter of fact it smelled like some type of pine cleaner. We seated ourselves and within minutes was greeted by a very friendly waitress. She immediately brought coffee and water, as well as menus. We placed our orders.
While we waited for our food, we looked around the dining room. Everything was clean - and the carpet, which in truth did have some stains, looked very clean. The windows were clean and it looked like new curtains were up - red and white and sparkling!
Our breakfast arrived in a timely manner, and it was excellent! David had the Mexican omelet, grits and biscuit, I had ham & cheese omelet, grits and biscuit. The omelets were very good, the grits were the 'slow cooked' kind that are so creamy and good, but the real 'star' was the biscuits! Big, fluffy, great consistency, served with REAL butter and good jelly.
We lingered over several cups of coffee and listened to conversations around us, people chatting about how good their food was, what a nice place, etc.
The moral of this story - don't believe all the reviews - go see for yourselves! I'm so glad we did!
