“I have had better Tex-Mex”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Runny beans, runny flavorless salsa, tomatillo sauce tasteless....and so noisy inside that you could barely talk to each other

“This is not Greasy Mexican Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

If you want traditional greasy tex mex, don't come here. This is the real interior mexican food and all of the seafood and all other food is fresh and never frozen. We are local and have been eating here for many years. The owner sold the restaurant a few years back and those people destroyed the reputation of the best restaurant in Rockport. The food was horrible when those previous owners had it and even we never ate there. Now, Roy the original owner has taken it back over and has re-instituted the original menu and recipes and it is now better than ever. Remember that Rockport is a coastal town and there are only a few restaurants here that serve local caught seafood. Los Comales is one of them. Please don't go there expecting greasy enchiladas ( they do offer cheese enchiladas, but I have never ordered them). The seafood is to die for and the fajitas are as good as I have ever had. I am a native Texan and have had eaten fajitas long before they were popular in the U.S. Try the different sauces on the fajitas, but the most delicious meal for us is the tarasco gulf shrimp. Very large shrimp and the meal is large enough for a couple to split. You can ask the waitress (Rosa or Rosie) to substitute refried beans for the Charo beans. Basically, you can ask them to make anything you like, but you gotta try the seafood. It is a little more expensive than the other Mexican restaurants because this is not tex mex. All of the ingredients are fresh too. We have gone there many times and have put tables together for large parties. They are very busy so we do a lot of the moving tables ourselves. We kinda take charge so to speak. They really like that and they never complain about separating a check for people. If a waiter or waitress does complain, ask for Roy or the manager (or just drop the name). If you do have a large party, try to call first and they will set up a table. If you try this place, you will not regret it if you like to try different styles of food. Other people can have the greasy cheap frozen food.

“Good food at Los Comales”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

We ate here twice in the 3 days we stayed here in Rockport. It is easy to find on route 35. We had the shrimp avocado ball, which was wrapped in cheese and breading and deep fried. The presentation is impressive, the result was not,
Otherwise the rest very good and reasonably priced, great service and atmosphere.
Note to management: check your menu prices against your cash register prices. Your cash register is billing too low compared to the menu prices. I think it was a combo meal that was billed too low.

“Great food, great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We were actually visiting Port A, but decided to drive around the mainland and found this gem. I was craving some Mexican tacos, so we stopped in for lunch. Our waitress was I think named Cheryl or Carol (older lady, short brown hair, glasses) and she was AMAZING! So friendly and attentive! She suggested the special of the day which were the Tacos Chendo for my husband and he absolutely loved them! I wanted tacos, but when i saw Mole Enchiladas, i had to have them. I have yet to find a Mexican restaurant in Oklahoma that serves these, which makes me so sad. Our food was absolutely delicious!!! Even my son, who's usually too distracted to eat, ate his quesadilla and the green salsa, and then had the rest at the hotel as his dinner! Next time we visit Port A, we will be taking a drive to go eat here and hopefully have the same waitress!
