“Wonderful surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

I do not frequent B&B's, but after our good experience at Rainbow Courts, I might start branching out. We stayed here for two nights for a local wedding and were very pleasantly surprised. The outside doesn't look like much, but the interiors are very nicely done. Our "single room king" cottage was smaller than what we are used to, but was very comfortable once we settled in. It was exactly as depicted in the online photo. Our king bed was great and had nice linens. Our room came with a portable air filter, which I assume all rooms had. The motel is the oldest working in Texas, and is in the process of becoming a State of Texas Historical Site. The property has remained in the same family for years now and it is obvious they are doing a great job of rennovating and maintaining it. There is a nice courtyard area with seating which is where we had a catered dinner Friday evening. Our room had a mini frig, a 4-cup coffee maker with Wolfgang Puck coffee, and complimentary wireless internet. The bath was small, had a tub/shower combo, and had a window that opened. The office provided a Kuerig coffee maker with a variety of coffee and tea, as well as a nice supply of snacks that we helped ourselves to throughout the day. If you want a little more room, try one of the suites. They are all nicely done with a combination of antiques updated with tile flooring and premium linens. My favorite was the Garden Room which was even nicer than the pictures indicated. The bride and groom spent their wedding night there. I might have to return to Rockdale just to stay in the Garden Room at Rainbow Courts!

My wife and I were impressed the minute we pulled in. Cloe the cat on the check in counter top will greet you like family. Dan is easy to talk to and very welcoming. Rainbow Courts takes no short cuts with the small details of your stay from the toiletries to the coffee we were very pleased and will stay again.

Spread the word! If your Texas roadtrip take you through Rockdale,TX, then this is the place to stay. Trust me, the previous reviews do not lie. It's obvious the Ratliff"s have spent a great deal of time and resources making this motel retain the classic "motor court" feel with modern amenities. I was very impressed. I will return and that is a promise!

We needed a last minute place to stay for A & M graduation. This is as close as we could get to College Station--what a pleasant surprise! We stayed in "The Garden Room" and highly recommend it!!! The room is a historic suite and luxuriously decorated with a romantic yet modern decor. The train did wake us up a few times, but actually did add to the ambiance! Plan to spend time relaxing in the courtyard. The owners were super accommodating. We also enjoyed the drive and the view to the Apache Pass Bar and Grille! Overall fun trip.

Room Tip: The Garden Room is the most romantic!

My husand passes this "motel" every weekend on the way home from College Station to Austin. We live apart during the week and this has now become our "unique" getaway for date night when he cant make it home!! It is an hour apart for the both of us! This is a Great Motel. You park by your door, Once inside your feel like you are at home, updated with all the essentials and the comforts of home but yet you feel the "old times in the old days." This place has been in the family for decades and the family is trying to keep it Alive and doing an Awesome Job! The owners and staff are very accomodating and friendly along with some "kitties" to welcome you! This is a wonderful place, our home away from home for the night! You must give it a TRY! I can't begin to tell you how great this place is! You have to see it to believe it. My husband and I just happened to stumble upon the Rainbow Courts one Easter weekend a few years ago. We had driven over to Rockdale to eat dinner. We found a great little mexican restaurant, Julio's, had their most AMAZING Shrimp Cozumel, then--because we were too stuffed and tired to go home--went in search of a hotel room. The rest is history! We LOVE LOVE LOVE this place and go back at every opportunity we can! It's like stepping into a different world. Cozy and delighful!! Stay here, you won't be sorry----until you have to leave!

Room Tip: ANY room is a good room, but the Garden Room is a sight to see!
