“Cool place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

I'd been wanting to check this place out for a while ... and I'm glad I finally did. The woman working the front desk was super friendly and the aviation-themed room was cool. Pool was nice and secluded. The remote-controlled AC and in-room DVD player are a nice touch. Close to lots of shops and restaurants. If you're sensitive to noise, the bubbas screeching up and down the surrounding streets in their loud pickups can get kinda annoying. The free delivered-to-your-door breakfast is a nice touch, tho some of the items are a little low-end ... canned OJ and fruit cups like the ones you put in your kids' lunches. The muffins are awesome tho. Overall, Amelia's Landing is definitely worth a look ...

It's not the Hilton, but that is what I like. Amelia's Landing reminds me of the "Motor Motel" of the 50's and 60's. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. All needed amenities are available and for once they have a real coffee pot, not these one-cup things most hotels put in the rooms.
The operators are very friendly, and willing to go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable.
Enjoyed the peace and quiet. No screaming un-managed kids running back and forth to the pool, and even tho our room overlooked the street it was still quiet.
Everything in the room was comfortable and the aero theme is great.
Location is great as well with easy access to restaurants and entertainment of Port A.

A real fun place to stay and we'll be back again.

I few my homebuilt to Mustang beach and my son and I went fishing. I chose Amelia's because of their aviation theme. Our room was the Apollo room and it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast at the door in the am. Jay and Mary are great people.

I only stayed one night but had a great experience. I would defiantly stay here again. I stayed in the J3 Cub room, it was small but nice. The only complaints I would have would be the shower head was mounted very low and the parking is very tight.

I agree with the former review from "Lip Service". Old, shabby, small. Mattress was so hard, I couldn't sleep. Got up the next morning with a terrible backache (and I like firm beds!) The bathroom door wouldn't latch, the AC didn't cool the room, there is a coffee pot in the room, but no coffee (you have to order it the night before), no phone, no phone books to make local calls. The TV only got 5 stations. Worse than the cheapest Motel 6!!! And I paid over $100 for this dump. The only good thing I can say is that it was clean.

We take our guests comments very seriously and are dismayed to hear that this guest did not feel that she had a satisfactory stay with us.

A few points about the room she stayed in -

- The Amelia Earhart room was completely remodeled less than 3 years ago, and is one of the newest hotel rooms on Mustang Island.

- The beds are Serta pillow top queen-sized beds, and were new in 2011.

- This room has an oversized (10,000 BTU) 240-volt air conditioner that is less than three years old. If properly set, it will cool this room to <70 degrees.

- Coffee is brought fresh to the room in the morning (along with bakery, juice and fruit per the guest order at check in) as part of our delivered-to-the-room breakfast. This is our signature service!

Strangely, this guest received the breakfast order form when she checked in, but never returned it. Thus, she never received breakfast OR coffee. She DID fill out the survey on the BACK of the breakfast order form, so we know she received it.

- Evening coffee service is available for free upon request. Our in-room, full size coffee makers make 10 cups of Wolfgang Puck coffee.

- Our new 32" HDTVs receive 63 channels and we have free DVD movies available from the desk. We just checked -- the room she was in receives all 63 channels.

- This guest paid $90 per night for the Amelia Earhart Room -- including breakfast brought to the room in the morning for up to four people. This room has consistently had one of our highest customer satisfaction ratings. . (We survey EVERY guest.)

To sum up, we are completely dismayed by this review, and can only apologize profusely for whatever may have occurred during her stay in Port Aransas. The Amelia Earhart room is a favorite of many guests who specifically request it, but we would like to offer her a free night's stay in any of our other aviation themed rooms.

Amelia's Landing is a quaint little hotel in the smack dab middle of Port Aransas. The rooms are all aeronautically themed, which is cute and informative.

They deliver breakfast every morning to your door, though nothing is prepared at the hotel. Granola bars, fruit cups (like the ones you might send in your kids lunch pails) and blueberry muffins are what we ate, as well as hot tea prepared in the provided microwave, and we enjoyed our breakfasts thoroughly.

They sell airplane rides over the beach, although we did not actually take advantage of this. I think it probably would have been a very interesting and fun thing to be able to do.

They have a very nice looking pool and hot rub area that we didn't use. We spent almost all our free time down at the beach! :)

My one and only complaint would be the location puts you right in the middle of the silly Port Aransas traffic that happens nearly every day. People rent golf carts and drive like they own the place. But that's not this hotel's fault, and we really enjoyed our stay.
