We went to Fin's on a Friday night and expected a long wait. We got excellent drinks at the bar and were seated on the deck within 15 minutes, which was nice. Because we're in the service industry, it was obvious the staff were overwhelmed (not enough on the floor, it seemed). But the service was friendly, the view was great, and we enjoyed something we never order except on vacation -- the fried pickles. They came half-and-half with fried jalapenos, and they were great! This place knows how to fry. There was very little batter, which allowed the flavors to shine through. Great job, kitchen staff! We split the crabby burger and grilled shrimp poboy. The burger was pretty good, but the poboy, not so much. The shrimp were super salty, the bread was not dressed, and it was too soft -- it would have greatly benefitted from a toasting. The cole slaw made up for the poboy. In fact, the slaw and the appetizer were the stars of the show. You don't get much slaw, but what you do get is great. The peppery dressing is not too creamy. We decided we will go back for appetizers and slaw, and maybe try a fried plate since it seems the kitchen does fry up things well.
