It my first time vistiting Port Aransas, and let me say that Mustang Island and the town of Port Aransas are beautiful and relaxing, and from all that I see taking place I expect it only grow as a beach getaway.
Furthermore, my hotel was clean and comfortable--exactly what you would & should expect from a Holiday Inn Express. But I won't stay there again. Which seems odd because there is really little they could have done to make my stay better.
But after having checked around the island, there are countless small independent motels and cottages, that are not only just as clean and comfortable, but also a fraction of the cost. I spent my last night on the island down the road at the Port Aransas Inn, and discovered a much more laid back atmosphere, a more approachable & cordial staff, and an overall better vacation experience. So I guess if you want a Holiday Inn Express, stay at the Holiday Inn Express; its exactly as it should be.
But my suggestion is stay in a similar quality place, save a buck, and enjoy a better beach-style vacation getaway with one of the smaller, independent, quaint motel/cottage venues on the island.

Great hotel in every way and one that surprised me. They have fitted sheets! I've stayed in hotels and spent a whole lot more money only to wake up with the bed a hopeless mess. I've even complained about the lack of fitted sheets in other establishments. Finally someone got a clue. The beds were great besides!! Great hotel for the money!!!

i came and stayed with my 2 kids... the elevator was broken and from what i gather from the front desk personel it is always broken the pool was dirty the heater in my room didnt work.. too many maintenance issues.... and when i asked to speak with a manager there was none to be had.. then i came back later requesting the manager again.. does this hotel run itself with no manager... how does this place stay in business does just housekeeping run it needless to say front desk is inconvienced always in the back .. is anybody home...

This is the BEST hotel! We stayed two nights in a suite with a very comfortable, very clean king size bed with all-white bed linens and thick pillows, and a sofa bed in the living room area that was perfect for my kid. We were on the third floor, and we could actually see the ocean in the distance from our window. There was also a kitchen counter-top with cabinets, a small kitchen sink, a small fridge and a microwave. They even thought to put salt and pepper shakers and disposable plates, bowls and utensils, as well as the standard coffee maker and ice bucket in the room. Everything was so CLEAN and NEW! The room smelled like new construction. I had NO PROBLEM getting comfortable and feeling "at home."

Downstairs, there's a quiet room with two computers for using the internet. It was really nice and convenient! Made me feel even more at home. And the pool area is excellent! We spent a lot of time in the hot tub, looking up at the stars. It was so peaceful and restful.

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. It's worth every penny. I can't wait to go back!
